Nice lunch, really friendly service (my daughter loved the colouring book whilst we were waiting for our food being cooked).

We were on a family day out and had just visited the amazing Dalbeattie Museum (can?t recommend this enough!) and were recommended the Granite Kitchen as a lunch option. The restaurant itself has a cosy atmosphere. We were welcomed to a table and given menus. The waitress, who was lovely, came to take our order and we asked for the soup and sandwich deal from the menu. I?m not sure if it was the cook or the owner, but a lady came from the kitchen area and told us - in a very stern tone - there would be no soup as ?it?s summer, and too hot for her?. Given that we were asking for something that was listed on the menu we were a bit taken aback by her attitude - she made us feel like we?d asked for slugs on toast and the other people in the restaurant turned to look at the table as they too had been surprised by her tone. Given that soup and a sandwich takes up at least a third of the menu - and also that we hadn?t been told there were any changes to the menu - we were really surprised at her attitude and it made us feel really uncomfortable. We had two young children with us so took another look at the menu and decided to opt for the fish and chips. To which the cook/owner lady came to announce there was ?NO FISH!? (Which ruled out most of the rest of the menu!) The lovely waitress looked a bit embarrassed by her attitude and it was an all round awful experience. Maybe they were having an off day, but they absolutely need to work on their customer service skills. The waiting staff should be versed on what is/isn?t available and there is NEVER a need to make someone feel uncomfortable for ordering something which is quite clearly listed on the menu. There are lots of lovely eateries nearby and I would recommend giving this one a miss.

We booked afternoon tea for quite large group and were all thoroughly impressed and delighted. Lots of delicious homemade food! And a great variety. We couldn't finish and had to take some home in boxes. The staff were attentive and friendly and they were very accommodating of the different dietary needs of our group. All in all we had a wonderful afternoon and would be delighted to come back in future.Vegetarian options: Plenty of choice for the vegetarians in our group and all tasty.

Been coming here for years, superb food, one of the best cooked breakfasts around and their pancakes are delicious, they also have a great selection of home made cakes and pastries that are always to die for!!

On a wee trip to Dalbeattie to watch the Mayhem Winch Challenge we stumbled upon a lovely little cafe called "The Granite Kitchen", we had the Cheese Burger and the Chicken burger which were both scrumptious ? the staff were very welcoming (even though we are English lol) the cafe was very clean and tidy would definitely recommend this place to anyone ??????

A very pleasant lunch here. Friendly service and great food. I had chicken tikka nan bread which was very nice and my girlfriend had a coronation chicken jacket potato. My girlfriend said it was ?the best coronation chicken she?d ever had.?

Very odd. Chef lady was abrupt and rude to our family. When we asked for two children to split an adult main course (they didn't do it on the kids menu), we were told we'd have to pay extra for another empty plate. Never had this in a cafe before."You're doing me out of a meal" was the reason. Then the lady got ruder as we chose to leave. Then she sort of apologised and then started mouthing off again. Weird.Bit embarrassing to be honest. Will not be back. Ever. And we are locals. Luckily lots of nice places nearby. With friendly staff.
