We accidentally came across the Anchor Hotel whilst down for a weeks holiday nearby. We went back for dinner and sat outside with a stunning view across the water in the evening. The food was great and both staff members who served us were very polite and welcoming. We sat outside as our dog can't sit at peace for more than 2 minutes, however the layout was excellent for us. Inside was lovely as well with a nice fireplace by the bar giving the place a warm and cosy feeling. We'll be back again before leaving :).

Fabulous place. It was a pleasure to visit the Anchor Hotel at Kippford twice in recent weeks. The welcome was warm and friendly and the traditional decor was so refreshingly honest creating a wonderful atmosphere. The food was excellent on both occasions, tasty, quality ingredients with good sized portions well presented without waiting ages. The seafood chowder and fish and chips winning the food jealousy votes! All at prices that are reasonable and reflect the quality of the food and the lovely experience . Highly recommended before or after the Jubilee Path walk to Rockcliffe. Thank you to the team at the Anchor Hotel for a great experience ???

We had an amazing meal here. I had the steak loaded chips which were lush and my partner had the steak and ale pie & cheesecake dessert. Could not fault it. Felt it for the guy working as he was the bar staff / waiter and booking taker all rolled into one. Still great service non the less!

Ate dinner in afternoon . Fish and chips .batter on fish was really good , chips were crispy , but too many for me . Reasonable price at £15.95. Pub was warm and comfortable after a walk along the beach . Friendly staff . Will definantly return . And dog friendly inside .

We have visited the Anchor for a number of years and have to say today was our best visit ever. We both had roast beef which was excellent, lovely meat, fresh, tasty vegetables and yummy gravy - one of the best Sunday lunches we have had. The service was great, Jimmy is a very helpful, friendly host, on the ball and attentive despite being quite busy. Would definitely recommend and we will be back to sample the evening meals :)

Fantastic bar meal, looked after by brilliant and welcoming staff who couldn't have been nicer (no mean feat the week after hogmanay)
