Cracking experience staying at the Luib Hotel last night! We arrived and we were greeted by a very friendly gentleman. Good craic, good rum, open fire and lovely reasonably priced rooms. We didn't get a chance to try the food but the menu sounded lovely. Will definitely be back again and highly recommend to anyone! Would give 10 stars if I could.Rooms: Stayed in a triple room, beds were comfy and room was quiet.

This is a lovely old rural Inn building circa late 18th century. John the owner greeted us with a welcome and a joke. The hotel is comfortable -- the type of place with shelves scattered about marked 'take a book / leave a book'. The room was to expectation, shower was great. Food was decent as well. Scenery around the hotel is glorious, there is an outdoor sitting area overlooking fields of sheep (if the weather is nice). There is also a small strange treehouse out back, reminiscent of dwelling for elves (the short ones). Our only regret is that we forgot to ask how the hotel got its name.... (?). Ah well, another reason to return.

Pros: - Beautiful location. Very rural and peaceful, I?m the middle of nowhere located next to a beautiful river surrounded by hillsides. Stunning - The food is out of this world! The fish and chips genuinely ARE the best fish and chips I?ve ever had. The Scottish breakfast was gorgeous. The haggis is the best I had the whole time I was in Scotland. Really, really good food! Cons: - Not the warmest of places. Not especially made to feel welcome. There is some banter that takes place but it?s quite awkward and unsure whether the staff / owners are joking or not. - Paper thin walls. The walls in the bedrooms are so thin you can hear ever single word that is spoken by your neighbours! Not great when you?re trying to sleep. - Tired. The hotel is beautiful, but hasn?t had any upgrades for some time. The hotel itself maintains its character and Scottish heritage; this is wonderful. However, the beds and other furniture in the rooms is tired and uncomfortable, shower drain blocking during use; those kind of things. Wouldn?t wanted to stay longer the night we did. I would recommend this hotel as a pass through for sure! For the food if nothing else!

Had a wonderful one night stay at this hotel in Aug 2023. Comfortable and very clean rooms. High ceilings. Hot showers (pull the shower cord, wait a minute and voila, hot showers). Tea kettle and related amenities, water bottles in room. Absolutely gorgeous setting/stunning backyard. Owner (I think he was) also doubled as our barman and was super friendly. This was our favorite hotel of the 5 we stayed in last week. Is it luxury? No, and the reasonable price reflected that. Yes, the breakfast options are tea/coffee and full scottish. But it was not a problem for us. The eating area is warm and comfortable (better than the pictures online). It is a very old building (500 years?) and had the related quirks and charm that my son, husband and I really enjoyed. I would absolutely stay here again.

This is Fawlty Towers without the charm of Basil Fawlty! Let?s get the plusses out of the way first - the hotel had vacancies and the room rate was under £100. Now the negatives: Decorations tired Thin walls Surly owner grunts at breakfast if you ask for anything other than a full Scottish! Refused to poach an egg and required 24 hours notice to provide a boiled one. This guy purports to have worked in the finest fish restaurants in the world - perhaps none of them served eggs! No cereal No juice Dirty cutlery There were 4 beers in the bar and on no night were they all available. They can?t be bothered to change the barrel, they just ask the customer to compromise accordingly. Staff bad mouthed local pubs but we found they served far superior food. Do yourselves a favour and avoid this one. If you want the laughs without the grief just watch Fawlty Towers on catch-up!

Small rooms with old furniture. Please note that the kitchen here is open until 8 pm and you won't be able to pay with a card, because the card reader often doesn't work.

Went for a 1 night stay. Had cold shower, cobwebs all over ceiling. Apart from this the room was very clean, bed comfortable, great dinner and good banter from staff. Dinner excellent and nice atmosphere in bar.

A very welcoming place and they cooked meals even though we arrived after meal time had finished.

Our weekend at the Luib was fantastic, on arrival we were greeted by John (owner) who was very welcoming and friendly. The Hotel is very relaxed and has a comfortable atmosphere, John chatted away like we had known him for ages. John creates an openness which draws everyone into conversation, which enables guests to engage with each other, so we got to know all the other guests staying that weekend and ended up having a sing song and a good laugh. We were well looked after by both John and Jay, who was also very friendly and made sure all our needs were met professionally and efficiently. The scenery around the hotel was just amazing and we will definitely plan a return in the near future.Susan & GrahamEdinburgh

I had an amazing time in this hotel. Rooms are lovely, there is a really nice bar downstairs as well. We could go around and explore as well. I will definitely come back.

We chose this hotel for an overnight stop en-route based on the good reviews and it?s location. I do not understand the 5 star reviews or the overall rating of 4.5 stars. It certainly does not merit those. This is a very basic hotel in a remote location. The room we were given was small with a small shower only bathroom. The room was generally clean, but in need of redecoration. We visited in Sept 2022 and they were unable to provide evening meals because of unfortunate staffing issues. The cooked breakfast was sub-standard, possibly for the same reason. It is inexpensive, so maybe we were expecting too much. If we?re passing through that way again we will pay a little more and stay in the village of Killin, not very far away.

Nestled alongside a main road with a beautiful pastoral view of hills and farms in the background, this beautiful old hotel was exactly what I imagined when thinking of a Scottish B&B.The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, despite being busy. Some of the most attentive service during our trip was experienced here. The room and bathroom were decent with good provision of tea, coffee, shampoo, soap, etc. Comfy bed and beautiful high ceilings. The halls were cutely decorated and well supplied with books about the area, if that's your thing. The cute old pub downstairs served us a refreshing drink in the evening and a proper cooked breakfast in the morning, which stood out compared to some of the cold, in-room breakfasts we had elsewhere.Only reason for the 4 instead of 5 stars was because of some serious cobwebs on the ceiling of our room and in the pub. With a good deep clean this place would be perfect!

Warm welcoming little bar/hotel. Food is excellent and been one of the best little hotels I've ever stayed at. As a coach driver I will definitely stay here again.
