“We regularly travel from Dalbeattie to use Castle Douglas Post Office. The atmosphere is always sunny and helpful, whether it be helping to post parcels, or handling complex bureaucratic forms. These tasks become a delight, rather than a chore! You add to the quality of many peoples lives.”

“We went yesterday to this fabulous place for lunch. I,ve lived in New Galloway for 9 years and till three days ago never heard of Palnackie. It’s such a beautiful village. Now the cafe is wonderfully decorated and the artwork u can buy as well as other crafts . Staff were excellent at cleaning the tables , taking our names etc for Covid-19 rules . The place is so light and airy . The menu is excellent. Great selection of cakes , drinks , hot and cold food . I had Jacket Potato with cheese and beans and freshly made coleslaw also came with a lovely side salad which my wife ate for me as I,m not a salad eater. My wife had a lovely bacon , lettuce and tomato toastie with side salad, I also had a a great homemade fruit scone with butter and raspberry jam, bakewell slice and amazing shortbread. I had a great cup of tea well two good cups as decent size teapot and was offered more hot water if I wanted more tea (wish more places would do that offer a top up of hot water) my wife had dandelion and burdock. Staff were lovely and helpful. All the other cakes which I didn’t try looked awesome and so did the homemade sausage roll . Definitely be back I can see this being a local cafe for us . After all it’s only 6 miles from Castle Douglas. Also the shop was well stocked , clean and lovely herbs outside that u could help you self to . Thank you for a lovely day. Lynne and Kenny Duncan”
