My visit to this pub was an absolute nightmare. The staff were a blend of rudeness and body odor that left me regretting stepping foot inside. The owner's cheekiness reached new levels of annoyance, making it clear that they have no concept of customer service. And let's not forget the "alcohol" they served ? it was so watered down that I've had more potent drinks from a children's fruit shoot. Save yourself the misery and avoid this wretched excuse for a pub at all costs.

Not a very nice response when phoning to book a table. Was told totally book but no sorry or remorse. Not a very pleasant lady. Maybe should look at their customer service. The family should sell the property and go somewhere else

So inneficient. I've been trying to book a room for Sunday 3 September for two days. They don't answer the telephone or emails, and when my husband did eventually get through, he got three conflicting bits of information then got cut off. They really don't care.

We didnt stay in the hotel but we dined here. It is a lovely place with views of the sea. However, it is lacking the personal touch. There were not enough staff on shift to cope with the demand of the amount of people in the bar/restaurant. Bar staff looked harassed to say the least. It is a quaint old place, but is looking a bit tired. A coat of paint, nice nautical decor and brighter colours in keeping with the area would make such an improvement. We passed people the night after we were there, and they commented that it was chaotic. Such a shame as it is the only place really to relax in the evening in such a small village. Also it is closed Monday and Tuesday, which we found very unusual!

This is a lovely, old and quaint hotel in a stunning location overlooking a tiny harbour with incredible sea views. Though it is on the East Coast of Scotland, it faces west so that one can see beautiful sunsets over the Dornoch Firth and across to Dornoch Town. The rooms are comfortable, warm and spotlessly clean. Breakfasts are traditional and tasty, with more than enough on the plate to sustain one until dinner. The Bar is the local bar, and there is music from time to time. It is a friendly place, and conversations start easily. Dogs are more than welcome! There is a lovely little Poodle dog host with whom our lad got on. There is an endless inventory of places to visit. The area has a fascinating history and is on the Pictish Trail. It is surrounded by beautiful sandy beaches, perfect for dogs! The owners are incredibly helpful and friendly. A perfect place for a stay!

We had a wonderful stay with our dog in the castle hotel in portmahomack. The hotel was a stone's throw from the sea, including a harbour and lovely beach. It had Very friendly staff who were very welcoming .we enjoyed delicious meals cooked both evenings in the hotel and breakfast was also excellent with a wide range of options. Our room was clean, newly refurbished and very inviting. Our dog was welcome also and enjoyed biscuits and the log fire to relax beside.we Can't wait to return in the very near future and explore the surrounding area further.

Can't fault the food it was amazing compliments to the chef but the owner was so rude and abnoxious couldn't even take her head out her laptop to greet us left us standing for ages never seen a woman look so dure faced when she did look up its like she looked right through you never been treated so bad shame as I'd definitely go back for the food but she stops me wanting to

Returned here twice during a 5 day visit to Portmahomack having dined here in 2021. Very dog friendly but the staff are friendly to everyone. Whilst fairly limited menu, there are a couple of specials each day and the food is very nice. For similar friendly reception but even better food, visit The Inver Inn just 5 miles away.
