Good for weekend break.Rooms: Rooms are nice and refreshments excellent. However, the room Nairn which we stayed, is near the entrance and you hear everyone leaving and entering - so another room would be better if you want an early night or lie in.Walkability: Had a nice walk along the river in the afternoon and then an early morning run in the woods the next day. During the run saw plenty of deer ? ine woods.Food & drinks: Lovely dinner and breakfast. Food choices were good and tasted delicious ?. Bar had a nice selection of real ales.Noteworthy details: Real crackling fire made the dog friendly lounge lovely place to relax.

Our Valentine Nightmare Experience. We drew up at 2.30pm looking forward to a Valentine Night and Dinner stay. We asked if we could access our room a little ahead of 4pm book in time. We waited 20 minutes as there was no one at reception. A lady with an Eastern European accent then came and told us coldly ?the rooms are all still being made?. ?What all the rooms? checkout was at 11am. Could she just check if ours had been done??. The same unrelenting answer came back. So we decided to wait for an hour and a half in the side room and buy drinks. Our Cockapoo was getting thirsty so we asked at the bar ?could we have a bowl of water in the side room while we wait?? ? No came the brief answer ?both bowls must stay in the bar?. So we brought our Cockapoo through to the bar. At exactly 4pm a lady with a Scottish accent came into the side room to say the rooms were ready. I came to collect the keys from her and she displayed the same coldness in attitude, not a smile of any sign of pleasantry. On entering our room we noticed there was no wardrobe door just a recess on the wall with hangers and shelving where you then have to look at your clothes all night. The first thing we do is check the bed. The over blanket was stained. On pulling back the bed cover we found dirty marks on the bedsheet that looked like from a boot or dirty iron and body hairs. I immediately went to reception and asked the lady to come and look at the issue. She offered to have the bed changed. I said ?given our experiences here we really don?t want to stay?. My wife was also not happy. We left on Valentine?s Day for our one and a half hour journey back home relieved that the worst ever hotel experience was over.
