Only go to this restaurant if you fancy frozen food and terrible service and a rude uncaring manager

I was really hoping the lower scoring reviews were going to be wrong but they just aren't. We were told upon arriving there was no steaks, which half of our 12 person party were wanting. 20 mins for a drinks order so we elected to order food along with the drinks order. Starters left alot to be desired. Prawn cocktail was awful and the garlic bread was completely overpowering. Steak pie came with frozen veg which has gone cold. Pie itself was edible, mash was fine. Another person chose to have theirs with potatoes and these were undercooked. Someone was told they didn't have the belly pork right as we had just finished the starters too so they had to order again. Just awful and because of the experience and food quality, really poor value for money also.

Thank you very much for a warm welcome and table arranged to suit our family. It was perfect.
The service was a little slow but suited us as we were in no hurry. The meal was lovely and we had a 'braw' night for birthday celebration. Thank you to the lovely waitress who took a family photo which is precious.

The open fire is great and the furniture is lovely.
Service was painfully slow, smile-free and far from forthcoming, on a VERY quiet night. We weren?t greeted, welcomed or advised at any point.
Food was below average; soup was entirely tasteless, hand-stretched pizza was a perfect, cardboard circle and, at 5.30pm on a Sunday, there were no Sunday Roast left (the waiter had no idea what the roast was when he took the order!) or roast potatoes. The Pork Belly was good. Needless to say we didn?t have dessert.
Driving past Birkhill Inn en route to Piperdam, it was incredibly busy and it?s clear why this was the case here - there?s a complete lack of care and attention for a venue that has huge potential!

Solo travelled to piperdam came to restaurant twice and sat at the bar , nick, seth, poppy, kier, made me feel so relaxed laughed joked with me there service and making me feel at ease as a solo traveller was nothing but expectional, we shared life stories, laughed and joked. Nick as a restaurant manager instantly came to me the first night and chatted and on return took the time to do the same , I have visited many restaurants and this is simply amazing , the food omg you need to have the ultimate burger up with one of the best burgers I have ever had, the cocktails are outstanding and not shy on meassures. GREAT SERVICE GUYS THANKYOU CANT WAIT TO RETURN X

Disappointing.
Great views and ok interior.
Service was really poor. Had to order at the bar as we seemed to have been forgotten about despite it being quiet. (Couple behind us just gave up and left) Some staff grumpy and seemed disorganised.
Starters were very good. Main courses were terrible. The steak pie was awful, no meat, and overcooked. Chips soggy.
Won't be returning.

We stay in a lodge for the weekend and we went to the restaurant twice a day , the food was so delicious. We tried most things and everything was wonderful, we finished our food every time. The service was a little slow but the food made up for it.

We visited here a few times during our stay at Piperdam - mostly sitting within the Howie's bar section. The food and drinks we had were really nice - we enjoyed the Scottish stack burger and the Cajun chicken pasta. The staff were all really nice. They were helpful in changing the TV stations for the darts and football.
It can get quite busy and noisy, with large groups and kids running around. Great to see that it was dog friendly.

Second time here this year. First occasion, we had pre-booked, but shouldn?t have bothered- it was dead. Placed orders for drinks and food at the bar - front of house staff quite polite, but no chit chat. Food arrived as we were finishing our drinks. Today, hadn?t booked, but as we arrived there were about 6/7 tables occupied, so steady but by no means busy given the size of the place. As per previous visit, ordered drinks at the bar, got menus then placed food order. We wanted a Sunday roast, only to be told that they no longer do them. We were told it would be 20-25 minutes. While waiting for our food a nearby table left - having waited over an hour for food! This was not a good sign. 40/45 minutes after ordering our food it arrived- one of our plates had clearly been intended for the table that had left. Most of it was lukewarm, with the small portion of sauce so cold it had a skin. The server was asked to take it back, and bring a fresh plate. The kitchen then cut the main thing on the plate into small pieces and it had clearly been microwaved which we were not going to accept. The other dish, had also been overcooked and been sat on the kitchen pass, but at least it was hot and relatively edible. Front of house staff were good, and 100% not their fault.
Two visits almost 6 months apart, and STILL have the same problems??? If you?re still advertising on the in house menus AND online, that you do Sunday roasts, maybe they should be available ? If not maybe get them removed from the well worn menus and the website? The kitchen, in my experience, is either vastly understaffed or they?re working with a lot of broken equipment - either way a management issue.

Came here to the bar area, for a pint and something light to eat only to be told , sorry not serving any food in the bar area, would have to book the main restaurant which would be a 40 minute wait. We've been before and never had any bother, things have definitely changed and not for the better.

The food was good, however the service wasn't. The steaks weren't cooked the way we asked them to be, the dishes came at weird timing and intervals between each, the service is almost nonexistent (you have to order at the bar, grab the cutlery yourself), letting the new hire do all the work while the rest of the staff gossips behind the bar. Would not recommend.

Went with 4 friends and only one other table with people at it. Awful food, slow service, soup and sandwiches only for lunch. ?Short staffed, sorry?. If they can?t provide a service, they should close the restaurant. Should not be allowed.

Had dinner with a group of eleven choosing a variety of dishes. No one was impressed with their dinner. My steak pie was served with over a third of the plate being a pile of peas, a further third was broccoli. The actual steak was overcooked. Very poor, would not recommend the restaurant.
