Called in on our way home from a weekend away for lunch. It was very quiet with only 2 people eating when we arrived. We wanted a roast lunch as it was a Sunday but were told they weren't doing it so we had steak pie. Cannot fault the steak - it melted as soon as you touched it with a knife. Lots of HUGE chunks of perfectly cooked beef in lovely gravy. We found out when 2 new people asked for roast dinner that the pub had been flooded the day before due to torrential rain and that's why there was no roast!!!

Great local place , food was fab . Eccentric little pub but welcoming . Don?t let the interior fool you, food was lovely , well my scampi was rhe best I?ve had in a long time

I have been very fortunate to have traveled the world and have been to many countries, and experienced their restaurants, but i have to say that the food in this pub is very underrated. The steak pie that i had was out of this world, with flavours and textures exploding on your pallet like i have never experienced before. My travel partners also commented on their food as beyond their expectations, and with generous portions had by all. My compliments to the chef, supporting staff and the cute bar maid who was very polite and attentive.

First visit tonight, what a lovely welcome, the food was absolutely amazing, hubby had the rib eye steak, cooked to perfection, I had the burger which was lovely as well, will definitely be back and would highly recommend, so friendly!

We were visiting Biggar the night before our Virgin Hot Air balloon flight and popped in to the Cross Keys for a couple of drinks.
Lovely friendly pub - staff and locals!
Toni, the barmaid was excellent.

We booked for the weekend ? specials? menu and were not disappointed ? the chef James has a real talent for not only the great staples of steak ( which looked fab at the next table) but he can also serve up a banging curry or an outstanding ? dragon chicken ? ? a warm welcome , great service and choices that are just a little bit different are on offer here ? go eat at the Cross Keys ? I?m sure you will love it .. we will definitely be back ?

Just stopped in for a coffee we had two dogs and decided against it as there already one inside but the very helpful staff went to the trouble of erecting table and chairs outside for us. Had first look at the menu and will definitely give it a try.

It is a shame that The Cross Keys is not better frequented for dining. The food is always excellent.
