This is the father-in-law's local, I've spent the last 20 years drinking in here anytime we visit. It's a great place, with wonderful bar staff.

Spent 2 nights here, and wouldn't hesitate to come back, the breakfast was hot and plentiful, plus the buffet bar was good before I had my full Scottish breakfast, clean room, the decor may not be up to modern IKEA look, but I personally liked it as it was, with a hotel comfy feel about, I didn't have the evening meal as we were off exploring the area, however I did see people having a meal and it looked nice, all the staff I met were friendly and very helpful, a big thumbs up from me ?

I have to give one star as unable to give zero !
I'm only reviewing the restaurant as I didn't stay there and if the meals that myself and other diners received were of any indication - I may have avoided further disasters.
The young serving staff were doing their best spending most of the evening fending complaints and providing apologies.
I doubt there was a table that didn't raise an issue as the food was of the poorest quality, cold and may have been procured from a bulk-buy warehouse and not locally supplied.
Other diners who were staying in the hotel were also raising complaints regarding breakfast arrangements not being adhered to - the complaints just kept coming and did the apologies and offers of discount - having stayed in many levels of accommodation and eating in establishments of a budget nature around the world I can honestly say this was my worst eating experience.
I do have to say however the young staff members serving were put in an unenviable position and did their very best to mitigate this shambolic experience.

Grim.
Room was very worn and in need of an update. Door didn't actually close without leaving large gaps all the way round it. Damp damage and loose wallpaper. Dirty carpet and broken shower. Mouse trap in room too so must be a problrm. On the plus side the bed was comfy, though I didn't sleep under the sheets.

A wonderful quaint hotel. Clean and nicely appointed rooms. Great fun at bar on premises. And a fine breakfast to start the next part of our journey thru Scotland on. If ever in the area, will definitely stay again. Be sure to check out the shoreline in town . Beautiful and a great place to sit and enjoy.

We had a lovely stay at this family-run hotel. The room was comfortable and spacious enough, the bed very cozy, and the price really good value for what you get. All the staff were genuinely friendly and went out of their way to accommodate every guest?s needs.
Breakfast was busy the morning we were there, and the staff were very upfront about it?they let us know there might be a wait and offered tea/coffee and access to the buffet table while we waited. We were in no rush, so it was totally fine. I appreciated getting lactose-free milk straight away, and when our cooked breakfast came, it was really tasty.
It?s clear the team works hard to make everyone feel welcome, even under pressure. Sometimes things take a bit longer, but that?s just part of a personal, hands-on approach in a busy family-run place. We?d definitely stay again!

I consider myself an expert when it comes to afternoon teas. The Mother's Day Afternoon Tea was fabulous plenty of delicious homebakes, sandwiches were freshly made, there was tasty sausage rolls alongside black pudding bombs. Staff were very attentive, but not intrusive. Would highly recommend for Afternoon Tea.

Stayed here several times, staff are always very welcoming and friendly. Food is great. Rooms are clean and feel cozy. There is parking at the coop next to the hotel which is helpful.
