The place is magical, like the other distilleries in the country. The whiskeys are sumptuous. That said, the digital presentation of the brewery lacks the human warmth that one might expect. And above all, lack of modesty.

I've never been outside of North America. But Scotland is on the top of my list. And this is one of the first stops there.

1. The Scots created their first whiskey distilleries in 1700. However, they were illegal and were built in hard-to-reach areas. Such an area was the Livet River valley, where over 200 distilleries operated. 2. In 1824, George Smith was the first in the region to legalize the production of whiskey. For many years, his former colleagues from the industry threatened to burn him. To this day, the advertising slogan is Glenlivet - the single malt that started it all. 3. The fame of Glenlivet whiskey caused many distilleries, even those located outside the Livet River valley, to call their products Glenlivet. In 1885, after a 4-year legal dispute, the Smith family obtained exclusive rights to the name The Glenlivet. Other manufacturers may only add the Glenlivet particle to their name. 4. The distillery was owned by the Smith family until 1978, when Seagram purchased it. Then, in 2001, it was taken over by Pernod Ricard. 5. Glenlivet is currently, according to various statistics, the first or second single malt whiskey in the world.

The visitor centre and a shop are the best I have ever seen so far. The decorations, size and atmosphere inside are perfect. The distillery tour is excellent as well. The tour guide was really knowledgeable and could answer all our tricky questions. The whisky tastings at the end of the tour is also outstanding. The Glenlivet whisky is well known for its smoothness and this is definitely 100% truth.

We bought tickets a few months ago for a tour. When we arrived, there clearly had been a technical glitch, because they weren't supposed to have tours that morning. The staff wound up taking wonderful care of us, and we got a tour by one of their guides (Paul) with just my friend and I. The tour was the best of the several we'd taken in Scotland, and the fact that the staff took care of us when there had obviously been a scheduling issue made the visit very special. I definitely recommend visiting.

Wow, what a place it is. Highly recommend their experience and the person who gave us the wine tasting instructions. She was amazing with her knowledge and communication was easy to understand being from a different continent.

Nice bar, nice shop, some destilleries exclusive and also some bottles that are only buyable in Taiwan. Next to the destillery there is a small lovely old castle/house. Prices are good. You are welcome there. Which I unfortunately cannot say about ome other destilleries that close gates.

Hele leuke rondleiding gehad!

Great tour. Loved the storytelling from the founder?s beginning to the whisky making processes and final wrap up to the tasting. The tasting room is especially impressive. No doubt this distillery is one of the largest with scale and grandiose.

I actually came here looking to see if they had a cafe and they do, I got a cup of tea. The interior is state of the art, like a five star hotel. There was a bus tour arrived but they still managed to accommodate me.I will come back another day for a tour as it is always interesting to learn the history of distilleries. They are all very unique. Thanks for looking after me on such a wet day.

Fantastic tour. We were taken around the Distillery by Alice. She was very passionate about the whisky and informative. You can see why whiskey isn't cheap. You get an appreciation for what your buying after going on a tour. Highly recommend for anyone who loves a dram or just curious about how a distillery business works.
