I would give this more stars if I could! Rowies (butteries) were out of this world and the chocolate and hazelnut swirl was to die for! Don't pass this place by without a stop off you won't regret it! Will be back for sure. Staff lovely and everything cooked fresh by the owner. Seats outside and inside to eat your takeaway surrounded by gorgeous scenery. Very reasonably priced!

Absolutely adore this cafe, it?s become a regular stop off anytime we?re heading towards Ballater! I?ve repeatedly ordered birthday ?wreaths? (essentially giant versions of their swirls) which are delicious. Would absolutely recommend a trip (or multiple) out here!

Stopped by for coffee and cake. The coffee was brilliant. Lovely staff. Cook environment. The cakes were really good, the doughnuts in particular! Dairy free options available :)

Super quaint roadside bakery. Excellent food with a wide selection of freshly baked goods using local produce. Good prices, lovely strong flat whites, & friendly staff. Would absolutely go out of my way to drop in here again!!
There isn?t a ton of seating, but everything is offered as takeaway, so you can stay or go.

Highly recommended by many past patrons. The sweet pastries were 100% delicious, the savory not so much. Wish we had had time to enjoy their brunch options on - site.

The Highlanders Bakehouse is an absolute delight. Run by a lovely couple who make everything fresh on-site, it?s one of the most charming little cafés I?ve ever visited. The butteries are hands down the best I?ve had anywhere in the North East ? seriously impressive. The setting is stunning too, well worth the trip. Whether you?re popping in for half an hour or staying for a proper lunch (portions are generous!), it?s a brilliant spot. Can?t recommend it highly enough.

Shona and her team are truly wonderful human beings, and they make THE best baked food we have ever experienced. We got in touch with them about a big delivery order for our wedding guests staying at Gairnshiel Lodge with us in the Cairngorms, and nothing was too big an ask for them. They are kind, warm and so extremely generous in every sense of the word.
They created bespoke items which went down an absolute blast with our guests, and we are so very grateful to them.
Thank you Shona and your team for making our dreams become a reality and for being wonderful human beings in the process!

They make some tasty food items, but I forgot the name of what I had (a thick bread with mozzarella on it). I was so hungry I couldn't see anything properly. Please keep in mind that the food items are a bit expensive, but they are homemade and tasty. You can also get burgers from this shop.
