The hotel is great, but a little tired in places. It's an old building and it shows signs of its age. Bags of character.The staff are first class, the location is brilliant.Rooms: In need of attention, but more than adequate. Clean and of a good standard. Shower/water not always hot.

Went here for my birthday when we arrived one of the employees stated you will have to go to bar I do not have anything g to do with this sideThe poor girl on the bar was rushed off her feet serving both food and drink k due to rushing g she spilt drinks over people took a long time to get servedWhen the food came it was very very salty which spoiled the food when we complained they stared they would knock service charge offI was really disappointed with both the service and food

The hotel was lovely and comfortable and the staff were excellent and very friendly (especially when my partner collapsed at dinner they were very responsive and helpful). There was a lovely big lounge area to sit and drink in which we liked. The rooms were nice with newly refurbished bathrooms, and beds were very comfortable. The food was also very good! Would recommend.

A very nice hotel in an ideal location for exploring Ballater and surrounding area. Friendly and professional staff in the bar area. Not so much in reception. Room was nice but let down by the double bed actually being two single beds stuck together creating a lump and gap down the middle. For a 5 star hotel (and pricey room) I was also surprised the towels were very thin and there was a hole in the duvet cover. All that said it was a warm room, very clean and really nice bathroom. Breakfast was excellent as well.

We have recently returned from a truly magical stay at the Balmoral Arms. From the correspondence prior to arrival and ease of booking to the friendly greeting at the reception desk, the entire experience was flawless!We brought our Labrador with us (who had never stayed away from home) and she was made to feel as welcome as we were! She thoroughly enjoyed herself and now has the taste of the ?high life?.The staff were amoungst the friendliest and professional we have witnessed who couldn?t do enough for us. They kindly helped with baggage - nothing was too much trouble.The rooms were fabulous and came with everything we needed. The food and wine was exqusuite, especially the breakfast in the morning.Being ?Crerar Group? hotel fans, we were delighted to experince the same award winning experience at Balmoral Arms that we have received in their other hotels. Now off to book our return trip?

Had a lunch here. Meal was very average. No vegan options apart from sandwiches available and it was a very low effort vegan option. They even added cheese and onion crisps which definitely aren't vegan. My partner is not a strict vegan so it wasn't an issue but they should've known better. I had the game pie which was pretty nice but the venison was quite dry.It was cosy and the waitress with the American accent was really lovely. People on reception were not so welcoming and didn't help us.

Amazing bar lunch. One of the best fish and chips I have experienced in a pub. Chef takes the time to come out and deliver the food.Nice friendly chap.Would defo recommend this for pub food. Great taste large portions.Looking forward to our next visit in a weeks time.Thanks again.
