It is obvious that the staff were committed to the care of the animals(first time I had been and that was because we had lots of shredded paper and newpaper which can be used as bedding ).Took carrots for horses/rabbits and food for cats and dogs.

They do their best but people who complain just to cause trouble the innocent people should be given the names of who reported them as 89 per cent of their work is nuisance calls

I used to Volunteer here. Staff bullying in this workplace occurs very frequently. There is a culture throughout the staff structure of bullying which forces out the good staff. If you try to tackle the subject of bullying, you are ostracized and forced out of the company. Stand against the Manager at your own peril and if you do your job is not secure and the mindset is that you are privileged to be allowed to work there. Sad, because there are some amazing staff there, doing amazing things under difficult circumstances.

Do majority of animals get put down? I'm not sure if it's just the situations of the animals but I called for two different animals on different days and have been informed that both had to be put down. It worries me to call for another animals and hearing that another one had to be put down.

Very informative on food for crow with very damaged beak. Scrambled egg, peanuts. Thankfully the crow can pick up the egg. Between a few of us, we hope to keep her going. Thank you, SPCA Edinburgh n Lothians.

All animals are equal but some are more equal than others! (Orwell - Animal Farm)On 11th August 2023, I came across a large distressed bird, possibly a duck, cowering up against a boundary wall to a property in a street in central Edinburgh. The bird was unable to put any weight under its legs. Passers-by were seriously concerned.I telephoned the Scottish SPCA. I was told that they would only come out if I "contained the bird in a box" and stayed with it until an Agent arrived. When I am not at home, I do not walk around the streets with boxes swinging from my armpits to contain injured and distressed birds. I informed the person to whom I was speaking that I was not confident about handling wild birds properly; let alone injured ones in case I caused it any pain. I went on to explain that I was late for an appointment and was hoping that someone would accept responsibility for attending to a distressed animal. I am sorry to say that the distressed animal was not on this Animal Welfare Charity's Radar. I would never give the Scottish SPCA another penny.I always given to understand that the Scottish SPCA attended to all reports of distressed animals. How wrong I was!All animals are equal but some are more equal than others!

Since when does the sspca stop giving updates on animals welfare reports made? I've just been told I can't have an update on the dogs I'd reported on Wednesday as looking neglected, being tied up with ropes,no water in bowls and having inadequate shelters...all I wanted was an update to see if an officer had been to check the multiple dogs welfare. New policy or just not been out to these dogs due to them being on a travellers site? ?. I'll be visiting the site myself to check on the dogs and if they still in similar condition there will be my answer on whether the SPCA care

I had contacted SSPCA regarding an injured seagull. The guy who attended was great and discussed what happens as i was concerned. He answered my questions and i could see he clearly enjoys the good work he does.He genuinely cares about all animals domestic and local wildlife.i didnt get his name but he is certainly an asset to the SSPCA.Unfortunately i did not get his name.shaved head and attended at east mains industrial estate , Broxburn where the Bapmobile is located during the day. Many Many thanks, it wasnt a happy ending for the poor bird after being hit by 2 vans but the service recieved and prompt arrival was second to none.Keep up the good work.your doing a great job.He had to leave while i was chatting to him.hopefully this review and thanks will get to him

The girl who answered the call was very friendly, efficient & so helpful. The inspector who attended my property was also friendly and extremely knowledgeable and took care of the pigeon very well.

Concerned about a collie. Nothing is being done and that poor dog is in the house for days on it own. Still waiting for a update phone call. Owner of the dog should be charged is a disgrace. Do they actually care about animals well I am starting to think otherwise. Very lucky to receive 1 star.
