Always a busy eatery ??
Mid morning visit and decided on a coronation chicken chunky sandwich with lettuce and tomato, with a side of potato salad, and kettle crisps.
Absolutely delicious!
Took away some cakes for later from the huge selection.

1st visit for us :) Popped in today with my bestie for some brunch on a wee celebration :)
Ample parking, easy to find & lovely from the approach to walking inside.
Really nice comfy chairs with a selection of high & low tables to choose from.
Great menu to select from & we were spoilt for choice!
Flat white & a pot of tea to start with (friend was delighted that it was leaves & a full pot!)
A full breakfast & something from the specials board - french toast, bacon & poached eggs with a maple syrup pour! Delicious! Great portions & didn't wait too long for food.
The cake selection is HUGE!!! Everything looked so good! We chose something to take away to enjoy later.
Toilets clean & well stocked!
Staff, were a bit lack luster - not rude but I wouldn't say welcoming or chatty either.
Didn't put us off, would go back but prefer the vibe of the one in Irvine which we have been to many times ?

So glad my wife brought me here. Very comfortable and actually not ridiculously overpriced. You have got to pay for quality ingredients to achieve consistency and return custom.
This Gro bakery is 10 out of 10 and I'm hard to please

Edit: Returned for another visit - midweek, pre lunch time. They had a waiting list for 30 mins + (about 5 tables ahead of us). Didn?t make any sense as there were at least 5 tables available and no reservations. Staff also seemed a bit clueless. Has kinda ruined the place in all honesty.
Super friendly and funny staff.
Beautiful interior. Exactly how I would design a coffee shop. Nice mix of sofa spaces and normal tables - all with loads of cushions! Nice outdoor space - even a kids play area.
They?re super dog friendly.
Great selection of cakes, lunch was so nice, huge portions, definitely worth the price. If I lived closer I?d be here multiple times a week.

Only been here the once, picture looked great for food. Odred the beyond meat burger, for £13 just for the burger it was very bland with a tiny bit of lettuce and a couple gherkins and £6 for fries which were nothing great, you'd expect something better. Quite frankly I would've had a better burger from Burger King and £3.90 for a can of pop. Nice vibe put my food was overpriced and poor tasting. Asked for the bill and was just ignored, paid at the til which is not a problem but if that's what she wanted she could've just said. Not much choice in Ayr so people don't have much to campare it to.

Cashless, thankfully my order was takeaway so when I was informed they are card only I cancelled my order and walked out!

Staying next door at the Travelodge we walked in just to see what they had. Everything was so good we now know where we will be eating breakfast.

Wow! Came across it by chance whilst on our holiday and having a drive along the coastline. Staff were wonderful, and the cakes and treats were amazing! Genuinely the best cakes and scones we've had in a long, long time! Worth every penny, for 5 of us it worked out at around £8 each - an absolute bargain in our view. My parents said the coffee was extremely good. We will definitely visit again next year!

Rude stuff
The cashier was itching her hair and her lower back front of me ?
I was love the desserts there, but now I don?t trust how the food is clean ?
And the blonde waitress try to avoid the customers!
I don?t recommend this branch of Gro to anyone

We had a very disappointing experience at this café. As visibly Muslim tourists, we were treated in an unwelcoming and unprofessional manner. It took around 15 minutes before anyone even approached us to take our order, and the staff?s looks made us feel like we were aliens from another planet.
What made it worse is that the waitresses were clearly treating other customers with much more kindness and friendliness, while with us, they were cold and dismissive. At one point, they even laughed at my sister, who wears a hijab, while she was taking a video of the café ? something others were doing without issue.
Sadly, this wasn?t the only branch where we faced this kind of treatment. It left us with a very negative impression, and we wouldn?t recommend this place to anyone expecting basic respect and decency.

We?ve visited Gro Café Ayr several times, travelling over an hour to do so, and used to really enjoy it. Sadly, our last two visits were incredibly disappointing.
On both occasions, we were met with rude, dismissive staff and cold food. During our first visit, drinks arrived after the meal, the food was cold, and we had to ask twice for tomato sauce for our three-year-old ? which only came after repeated requests and with poor attitude. By the time it arrived, our daughter had lost interest in eating. The restaurant wasn?t even busy, which made the lack of service more frustrating.
On our second visit a week later (giving the benefit of the doubt), we came in for takeaway coffee and cakes ? spending over £30 ? and were again met with rudeness, no attention to detail, and no basic courtesy. My husband even burnt his hand on an overly hot coffee cup.
To make matters worse, management has not responded to the email complaint we sent after these experiences. No apology, no acknowledgement ? nothing. It?s incredibly disappointing to be treated this way, especially as loyal customers who go out of our way to support the café.
Unfortunately, we won?t be returning.

Terrible service and below par breakfast!
Waited around 15mins to get served before having to ask one of the servers if we could place our order, once taken took around another 40mins to arrive concidering the place was half empty is a bit long.
Picture speaks for itself... the fact it was £13.10 for that when you can get cheaper and better breakfasts out of any supermarket cafe is quite funny.
Eggs and bacon looked and tasted like it was cooked under the heat lamp, cheap tasting sausages.
On a good note, my partners pancakes were good.
Last 2 visits to Gro have been a disappointment, won't be going back.
