I visited Gina Smart Boutique in Ayr by chance on Thursday 4th September 2025. I cannot express my sincere thanks to the staff. We live in EK and was out in Ayrshire for a few nights. I explained that I was looking for an outfit for a family function and I was directed up the stairs. The lady that served me was so helpful and spent time with me, giving me various dresses to try on. I?m heavy but her reassurance was fantastic. Her expertise and knowledge helped me pick a dress that I wanted to buy. She was absolutely lovely and so helpful. I would recommend this shop to everyone that is looking for a special outfit or something different. It?s definitely worth a visit x thanks to the staff again so friendly xx

I had a great experience at Gina Smart looking for my Mother of the Bride outfit. My daughter was married on sat 5th July with a fabulous reception at Piersland House Hotel in Troon and I felt great in my pink outfit. The girls in Gina Smart were quietly organising and guiding me to co-ordinate my outfit.with no pressure. I ended up with the full set of dress, shoes, matching bag and fascinator and was in and out the shop in just over an hour with my 2daughters, twin sister and I buzzing. Thank you for making an experience I was dreading so easy and I felt happy on the big day with my choice. Xx. Sandra Bark

I visited the shop yesterday to try to find an outfit for my son?s wedding and had an appointment with Jeanette. I was made very welcome and given time, with no pressure, to browse. I picked out about 8 dresses which had potential and tried them all on. There was no rush and Jeanette gave me a hat/fascinator for each one. It was a lovely experience and I ended up getting both my dress and fascinator there. I wouldn?t hesitate to recommend the shop to anyone looking for something special.

Fantastic selection of dresses. I did not end up picking a dress from the shop but team in the shop were great and so helpful with options of mother of the bride dresses. I would thoroughly recommend. Thank you

Wasn?t worth booking 90min appointment. Didn?t find staff friendly when we arrived and staff showed very little interest in the wedding. Brought my best friends all the way from Glasgow to Ayr for what we hoped would be a lovely, exciting experience as a first look at styles and ideas. It was terrible! Won?t be back and wouldn?t recommend

I read the last review and to be honest it was as far from my experience as it is possible to get. We popped in on passing, I didn?t have an appointment but was made most welcome. The ladies who dealt with me upstairs in the occasion wear floor couldn?t have been more delightful. They were so incredibly kind considerate and helpful. I got a dress for my son?s wedding and I couldn?t be more happy. I would thoroughly recommend this shop and the lovely staff.

We were welcomed to the store by a friendly store assistant who showed us upstairs where we were met with Jeanette. Jeanette was far from friendly and was immediately rude, abrupt and condescending whilst we looked for mother of the bride, and mother of the groom dresses. We had an appointment booked for 3:30pm- 5pm, but were informed at 3:55 that the shop was closing at 4 today, unbeknownst to us, she also explained that she had absolutely no idea of our booking and treated us with suspicion, as if to suggest we were lying.
We were told that my mum was only allowed to try on 3 dresses, in case she didn?t purchase on the day. When my mum asked if she could retry one of the dresses she had picked, Jeanette blatantly looked at her watch (as if we were keeping her behind). Whilst my mum tried on a dress, Jeanette patted my mum on the stomach while speaking about her figure. During conversation, we told her the dates of my wedding, on several occasions, and she repeatedly kept using the wrong date when speaking to us, along with calling my mum the wrong name throughout the appointment. While my mum was trying on her dress- my friend was looking at the label of another dress and Jeanette snatched it from her hands and moved it to another rack as she looked. We were told that we weren?t allowed to take pictures of the outfits because ?pictures don?t do it justice?- and ?it doesn?t look as good in the photographs? - which is essentially pointless considering the purpose of the outfit is to be photographed in it.
Overall, I have to say I was disgusted with the service we received. I feel that we were treated with contempt and spoken to like children throughout the appointment, made to feel embarrassed and enraged, she could not provide a single kind or positive comment during our appointment and made underhand, snide remarks during all of our private conversations. Jeanette?s service was so poor, that I actually checked if the dress was available to purchase elsewhere or online, as I was so appalled at her attitude towards prospective customers.

Beautiful dresses, I wonder how many people are actually allowed to try them on. Came in today to find my mother of the groom dress with a friend, unfortunately i found the exact dress but not the colour. The Manager was very rude throughout the whole experience, when my friend asked could I try the dress on she was rudely told NO, as I wasn?t buying, we didn?t say we weren?t buying, what we said was not that colour and there was another dress i liked in the correct colour. Unfortunately, this set the manager off to become very aggressive, my friend went to take a picture not of the dress just the designer and as she went to take a picture of the tag with the code on it to see if we could purchase the dress somewhere else, the manager aggressively grabbed it out her hand and pulled it away saying we don't allow photo, friend used to be a wedding consultant and i asked if this was normal practice, speaking to and treating clients like this.
I totally understand about not trying on the dress and photos, i get it, in case people are trying to get cheaper else where, however this wasnt the case, this particular dress in this shop was out of stock and wouldn't be coming back but they didnt give me the chance to although I could see it had been tried on many times before, but it was the aggression that comes from a woman who was definitely not on commission .
Also we will definitely not be recommending this place to any of our friends also looking for outfits.
DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED. This really could ruin someone with lower confidence and self esteem shopping experience for their special occasion!

Just been into the shop and bought a beautiful dress and hat for my sons wedding. A great selection to choose from with shoes and bags to match. The staff were so nice and very helpful. Would highly recommend a visit if looking for a wedding outfit

My mum went here today and had an appalling experience. She booked a 90 minute appointment to be told she was only allowed to try on two styles of dresses, as to quote the sales assistant, "they are too expensive to try on a lot of dresses " . Nowhere on the site does it mention a limit. At no point was she offered a hat or shoes to try on with her outfit. Meanwhile the sales assistants were running about getting hats and shoes for a woman who hadn't booked an appointment. Ruined what should have been a lovely experience for my mum. Wouldn't shop there for anything now and have told all the wedding guests and mother of the groom to avoid as well.

What can l say absolute amazing experience l had yesterday at the shopAfter travelling all over Scotland looking for MOB outfit my daughter came across Gina Smart shop and said we must try here Linda and Karen both made us feel so welcome the moment we stepped into shopAs being very fussy and after a few not nice experiences l was a bit apprehensiveLinda asked few questions regarding colours size styles l would like to try and made me feel very at easy no pressure at allLinda showed me a few and asked me just to try even l though they would put me out my comfort zone but as soon as l tried on l new looking l had found my dress l can?t thank Linda and Karen enough for given me a fantastic MOB experience l loved every minute and would highly recommend this shopThank you again to Linda and Karen for making my day so special l will definitely be back
