The food and service is excellent. Very cosy and warm ambience. Portion sizes could be a bit bigger.

I would rate this as the least good value for money accommodation of our tour of Scotland. It was also the smallest room though the room was otherwise good except for it being mildly annoying that it vibrated whenever a large vehicle drove past. The food we had was stunningly good. Even though we enjoyed a great gourmet meal elsewhere the night before we arrived, I would say that the Rowan Trees aubergine rolls were the culinary highlight of our Scotland tour. We were surprised that when we arrived we were only offered breakfast times between 8.30 and 9am even though I pressed for something earlier. When we came down at 8.30 the table wasn't ready so we had to wait a short while even then. Fortunately this just meant that we arrived later than planned at our first stop, but on other days of our tour it would have mean missing breakfast altogether.

Charming hotel with cozy interior. The staff was very friendly and nice. The room was clean and the beds were soft and comfortable. The road passed next to the house but the traffic did not interfere. The dinner was good, but a bit expensive in relation to what you got. The breakfast was very good.

We didn't stay the night here just stopped for dinner and they very kindly fitted us in despite being very busy, the staff were lovely and the meal was perfect! A good choice of gluten free food and a couple of meals suitable for both vegan and gluten free, highly recommend, but a good idea to book ahead

Me and my partner stayed here for 3 nights and we couldn?t fault the place at all. It was one of the best hotels we have stayed at. The location was perfect, our room was nice and comfortable, the staff were all very friendly and the food was amazing! We will definitely come back again.

Stayed here in our campervan on the dedicated spaces with electric hook up - was a godsend to get the battery charged back up for the rest of our trip, what a great facility.
Hotel is ideally situated close to Aviemore and ideal for tours to or from the Highlands, would make a great stopover to/from the North Coast 500.
The hotel itself is cosy, comfortable and traditional, exactly what you want from a Highland hotel, and we were welcomed like family.
We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent, high end restaurant quality and a level up from what we expected which was a pleasant surprise (in the nicest possible way - we didn't expect this quality of dining!). There were a lot of diners who were not guests which says a lot, the restaurant is a destination in itself. And a lovely snug with a log fire to relax by after dinner with a dram from the extensive whisky choices.
Obviously we didn't stay in the hotel - it was back to the campervan for us after dinner - but we asked to see a room out of interest and again were pleasantly surprised, very comfortable and fresh new bathroom.
Overall very impressed and we'll certainly be back, brilliant to stay somewhere with such service and attention these days.
Nearby activities: Lots of walks and cycling straight from the hotel, and it's in the Cairngorms so there are loads and loads of activities.
Food and drinks: The restaurant is excellent, in the nicest possible way it's better than expected - a high end restaurant in a cosy Highland hotel. Well stocked bar with a log fire and a huge selection of whisky alongside local beers and gins, and even a selection of alcohol free cocktails making use of the hotel-grown herbs!
Noteworthy details: A traditional Highland hotel with superb service, very welcoming.

Wonderfully looked after on my birthday. The staff and kitchen did their utmost to make us and our dog at home and we had a wonderful celebration with excellent food and wine. Many thanks indeed.

Review is for restaurant. The food is overpriced for a very average meal. Quality of meat needs big improvement for the prices they charge. Online menu is incorrect
