Bedroom was tired and needed a proper clean, bathroom door was rotten at the bottom from shower water, bathroom extractor fan did not work. Also, they do not serve breakfast in this hotel - you need to walk to the Highlands Hotel about 300 metres away for breakfast, NOT a great idea in Autumn in Scotland when it's raining. The only restaurant is Italian - if you don't want that then again you need top walk to another of the resorts hotels. Altogether and very poor set up./

Called the reception to explain to them my AirPods had been left on the side table, they contacted house keeping to then tell me nothing had been found. Be careful with your items in this hotel in what you leave lying about. I

Bad experience from start to finish. Booked the Macdonalds Morlich hotel for a 3 night stay. Things didn't get off to a good start when we entered the room, there were flies all around the window (counted 10) luckily the window opened fully so I was able to get rid of them. We were on the third floor in room 351, from a health and safety point of view there were no safety catches or security screens on windows which I found a little concerning? In addition, a squeaky toilet door and radiator not attached properly to the wall just added to our initial concerns. We choose to ignore all of this as it is an aging hotel and does need some serious refurbishment although not cheap by any means. The straw that broke the camel?s back was next morning around half 5 when we were awakened by the constant noise of the lift in use not only by a coach party leaving early but every other customer who used the lift after that, it was incessant and annoying to the point of giving my wife a severe headache, even the noise of the tv wasn?t enough to drown it out. We eventually gave up and my wife contacted reception and spoke to the night manager who said he would speak to his manager and call us back. He called back promptly and informed my wife that he had spoken to his manager and we would be moved to an executive room in the Highlands Hotel later that day. We duly continued our holiday with a wonderful walk around Loch an Eilean which I would recommend to anyone, but before we left we spoke again to a new receptionist to clarify the situation and she said the information had been passed on. On arrival back at the hotel late afternoon, we spoke to the same receptionist, who then informed us that the duty manager had stated there were no rooms available. We immediately asked to speak to the manager and informed him of our complaints and the promise made to us by the night manager. The manager was adamant that they were fully booked and there was nothing he could do, no explanation was given as to why the room promised to us in the morning was not available now. Apparently our only options were to endure another 2 nights in the same room or cut our holiday short. We chose to leave immediately which was a really sad and disappointing end to what we hoped would be a well earned break in Aviemore. We have had a few enjoyable holidays in Macdonalds hotels over the years, namely Forest Hills in Aberfoyle, Holyrood Hotel in Edinburgh including Highlands Hotel many years ago but never encountered such an unacceptable and unprofessional standard of service. Furthermore, if we had been informed in the morning that there were no rooms available we may have been able to find accommodation elsewhere in Aviemore but as you can imagine at such a late stage in the day and after a long frustrating time web browsing we were unsuccessful and returned home. Your customers deserve to be treated with more respect and empathy and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Cue yet another apology from the hotel!!!

This place is possibly the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. We are on a tour, and we were stuck here. There is no AC and no ventilation in the rooms. The 2nd day we figure out how to fully open the window but there are no screens. Even with the window open, the room was stifling hot. Sweated sitting still. Everything in the room is dated. The carpet is old and the bathroom door was warped from water from the shower. It was 80+ F degrees outside and they had a comforter and wool blank on the bed with no bed sheet. We forgot a razor, they don't have them. Advertised a pool, it was closed. No face clothes, they haven't had them since Covid-19 for some reason. Our bus of 42 people went on a tour of the area and we returned, nobody's key worked. The person at the desk asked "did you go in any shops?" The cards are deactivated if you do for security reasons for who knows why. If you can, avoid this place.

Quite possibly the worst hotel I've stayed in, the walls are paper thin and hasn't seen any maintenance in the last 10 years. There is a stale smell in the room and corridor. Just stay somewhere else.

I spent 2 nights in Aviemore. The rooms at Morlich Hotel at Macdonald Aviemore Resort are small, but comfortable. No more than 2 people per room and that's pushing it if you've got a lot of luggage. The bathroom and room were clean for my stay and I was satisfied with the service received. Be mindful in the dining room, steps are the same tile throughout the entire room so they are easy to miss. Definitely a tripping hazard.

This place is an old run down hotel.Rooms are small, smelly, and no AC.It's in a ski resort. Might be better during ski season. Food was so so. Service was the same. There's got to be a better option in the area.

Appalling reception, greeted with the words; "are you alright?" Not: "hello", "welcome", "how are you?" The room had old spider web in the corner, dirty cups - that had to be washed before they could be used, shower drain not draining and a receptionist who told us that the resolution would have to wait until morning, noisy restaurant/breakfast room. The outside is in need of major attention. The inside is tired, the public toilets in the lobby are shabby and in keeping with a motorway service station, many of which are better. Overall, terrible experience, to be avoided.

This is the worst hotel we stayed at in Scotland! There is no way this cramped room and hotel qualify as a 4 star hotel. I wouldn?t even classify it as a 3 star.I left a small USB flash drive and a universal plug at the hotel on May 11th. I called the hotel that night from our next destination and was told they couldn?t take a message and to call back in the morning. I also sent a message to the hotel explaining what happened. The Hilton Glasgow called them all afternoon for me and could never get anyone to answer.I am going to write my tour group and recommend they NOT include this hotel on their roster. They have ice buckets but I was told there was no ice, even at breakfast. My tour guide contacted me last night and told me that they never found the plug or the usb drive. I find that hard to believe if their housekeeping staff actually cleans the rooms. The food was sub par for a group dinner but breakfast was decent.I still would never recommend this hotel. The only disappointment on my trip was this hotel.

The hotel is close to restaurants and is in a good location to explore the highlands. Loc Ness is close by as is Inverness. The hotel is designed for skiers and the accommodations reflect that design. There is a good buffet breakfast for an early morning start to your sightseeing.

After reading some of the other reviews I was a little nervous about the stay. I needn?t have been. The staff were helpful, the room comfortable and everything was clean. The hotel is a little tired and the TV just showed the BBC channels but neither were significant. Plentiful free parking. Very close to Aviemore town centre. Breakfast was a decent buffet with a nice long period of serving which meant we could squeeze a swim in beforehand. The pool was warm, the slide fun and the sauna was appreciated. Think more like a leisure pool than a spa and you won?t be disappointed. Tip: check the pool opening times in advance.

2 nights weekend stay with a toddler. Room was cosy and clean. When we made the reservation we requested a baby cot which on an arrival wasn't in the room. We arrived late and a night receptionist brought it for us (went to other hotel to collect it). All the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Unfortunately pool was far too cold. Pool slide was great. Overral a nice stay, we would come back again.

There ate a few hotels on the estate so can be a bit difficult to find. Rooms were nice and free parking outside.Bar area was nice but a bit pricey compared to other bars nearby.Breakfast was good, buffet style but plenty choice.

My partner booked a Hogmanay night away for us at the Macdonald as a lovely surprise. The hotel is decent but definitely not a 5 star experience. The room was small but the bathroom was spotless and the bed was super comfy! One thing missing that we do tend to expect in a hotel room was a mini fridge or minibar. There was an ice bucket in the room with a note saying to phone room service for ice so I did and was told to bring my ice bucket down to reception to be filled up. At reception, I was then directed to the bar where I was given ice. I found this self-service strange but the staff were pleasant and friendly. We had booked the Black Tie event for Hogmanay which included a meal & ceilidh and was priced at £90 per person. This was a decent package but it definitely could have been executed to a higher standard for what they were charging. Upon arrival there was staff standing with canapés next to a table of glasses of Prosecco - no one greeted us or offered us anything which I found strange. We just worked out that you could help yourself from the other guests and then find your table on the seating plan. Luckily, we were sat at a great table with another lovely couple and a family which really made the night for us. There was no choice of what to have for the meal - only a veggie option. Overall, the food was lovely but every course was lukewarm/cold. This was disappointing but there was only about 5 waiters for a room of 140+ people, so I think this was down to not being able to serve everything quick enough - not the staff?s fault at all. Whilst eating, there was a live singer on who was fab but we found it strange that they decided she would perform whilst we were eating. For the price, we thought it would have been nice to have a few bottles of wine provided at each table but the only drink included was a glass of Prosecco on arrival. The bar was bare and had very little choice - 2 lagers on tap 1 of which was off all night. The firework display was amazing and lasted around 15 minutes! Overall, it seemed the hotel was very understaffed which is a shame. We enjoyed our stay but did feel the room and Hogmanay package was overpriced in terms of value for money. Nevertheless, the resort is bang in the centre of Aviemore and is walkable to everything.
