On arrival looked okay and accommodation seemed reasonable, but dated.First night we had our meal in the restaurant (See photo of menu)It was adequate. The next day we thought we would try the bar meals....big mistake. We only ordered fish and chips, after 45 min waiting, we were told the chip are finnished, and could only serve us sweet potato chips. We reluctantly agreed, as long as we can get fed. Over 1 hour for fish and chips...terrible doesn't even describe how we felt. 1 he & 15 mins we were finally served. And was it worth...No.Chip were sticks and fish was oil saturated. The next day we went back to the restaurant...same again, terrible. As a result, I had bad diahorrea for a week after we left.Would I go back...absolutely NEVER.

Nice Hotel. Really friendly helpful staff. Loads of room to park my truck. Had to leave early so wouldn't have made breakfast but was offered a lunch bag to take with me instead. Thanks again for a great stay.

Need to organise reception better. Its the first point of contact but lets the hotel down. Train staff and have more on at check-in time.Nice leisure facilities which helped.Breakfast was very good but bar food was very under whelming.

The five star review is for the young gentleman behind the bar, Alex. Sociable, friendly and courteous, it was a joy to have a drink here.

Breakfast finished early, time for breakfast given at check in and on all the signs was later than in reality. No one on reception was the least bit interested. The level of disinterest from all staff was high. Everything was a battle.

Dinner B&B for one night ,Staff are friendly and helpful but low on numbers ,whole hotel seems to be short on numbers .Our room was upgraded to a family room. The double beds are small . Low lighting in the room which i hate I do not like straining to read a book .WiFi works ok in the bedroom. The voucher entitled us to two drinks at the bar .Dinner is a buffet with a veg stir fry ,a stew ,fish and roast pork . There is a very attractive salad bar .Ice cream or a cake for a sweet .Food was fine . We did not look at the other facilities . The place looks tired and needs a makeover .however if you have kids it is ideal with a pool and it is not an expensive hotel

Great hotel. Very kid and dog friendly. Pool fab. Staff all really nice. Room, got free upgrade to family room. Beds have toppers, so nice and comfy, extra pillows in room. TV in room, plus Kettle. Rooms nice and warm, as was hotel. Lovely lounge and bar areas. Located in the most beautiful surroundings, just outside of Aviemore. Great beer selection from Cairngorm Brewery, on tap and bottled. Breakfast buffet good, as was the evening. On site resturant also good. It is a great place, where the staff could not be nicer. Ignore any negative reviews, stay at this hotel, it win't disapoint.Rooms: Family room, two regular double beds with mattress toppers. Kettle, TV, great wifi. Shower over bath. Nice and warm, opened window as so warm

The staff were exceptionally helpful but the hotel itself is definitely in need of investment and not at all like it was when I stayed here 5 years ago. Back then I thought it was a bit posh, now I?d say it?s more like Butlins.I?d booked a small room so didn?t have high expectations and was grateful I could take my dog and very happy to find myself in a disabled room which was spacious and had a window. However, it seemed every dog in the hotel was in this corridor so you can imagine the grumbles at other dogs constantly passing. The rooms are also right next to an amusement arcade which was noisy all night (even at 2am when clearly no one is using it).The room needed a window open all the time to prevent it being too hot, even after I turned the radiator off, crazy given it was snowing outside. I was told it would only be cleaned once, not an issue, but it was never actually cleaned. The bathroom also had a very hot radiator which couldn?t be turned off under a mirror which meant anytime I used the mirror I caught myself on it.Food options are limited as there?s only availability Friday and Saturday night in the bar unless you?re flush with money and able to afford £25 for the buffet in the restaurant. The pool was lovely but it?s small so can be difficult to swim laps as it can be busy but having a sauna was great. It?s has limited opening hours and you need to book too.I could have scored this really low but the staff were very helpful and it?s great it?s dog friendly. However I won?t be staying here when I come up to aviemore next year.

Sadly have to report not the best experience. 25mins to check in which apparently is not unusual. Not great having to stand in line for 25mins with 2 people on reception when you have driven for 3 hours. Room was ok but woken both nights of my stay with very loud banging coming from the radiator so not a lot of sleep was had. Shower temperature guage didn't work so temperature was too hot and uncomfortable to shower in. Pool only open a few hours of the day. Says it's open from 3:30pm to 6:30pm but didn't open till 4:30. So only a 2 hour window to enjoy the pool and you have to book. Given the size of the hotel and number of guests there is every chance you won't get a spot to swim so in reality pool a waste of time to most guests. On check out the reception doesn't appear to be manned and just a drop off box to drop the room key in so unable to make a complaint. I persisted and was told to fill in a card to report my complaints. I also emailed my complaint but no response from anyone. Judging by other reviews it is obvious thay don't care. Such a shame as potentially could be a nice place to stay but as I didn't get hardly any sleep due to the banging of the radiator and couldn't enjoy a decent shower (the 2 basics you would want from a hotel) would not recommend. Sadly they don't seem to care as any correspondence is simply ignored.

It?s a Britannia hotel but they go to great lengths to keep the brand hidden.First of all the pros:1: the staff are great. In true Britannia fashion they are overworked, underpaid and go mostly unappreciated but they are friendly and helpful.2: the sauna is great. It?s clean and hotNow the cons:1: the food is most definitely not worth the price. £25 per head for buffet, as a veggie this gave me access to one ?main? but even the meat eaters were stiffed with only three options which all looked grey and unnatural. Breakfast was just as bad with the usual Britannia assortment of hyper-oily eggs, hash browns etc though the chef did cook my wife and I some veggie sausages on request. Please avoid the food here, you have been warned.2: gym was closed for three days despite us booking the hotel as it had a gym. We weren?t told until check in and it wasn?t on the website.3: Pool and hot-tub were cold and it got colder as the week wore on. Well below acceptable. Many guests just left it.4: bar prices were ridiculous with most draught drinks clocking in at £5 a pint. Same with the coffee bar. Quality was good however.5: woodshed bar was closed all week and only opens on a Friday and Saturday. This is a recent development apparently6: the room was not serviced in the four days we stayed there. I had to ask the receptionist for toilet paper which is pretty embarrassing to be honest.7: the room itself was exactly what you?d expect from Britannia. Rough around the edges, draughty and worn. Desk light did not work and looked like someone had used it to fight an attacker off.In all, for what I paid (a little over £50 a night) it was acceptable but when you look at the place you can see that it?s heyday has definitely gone and will never return to its glory days.
