Lovely evening meal, good choice of Lamb, venison and barley risotto, washed down with a good choice of wines from Portugal and Italian and desserts.

Was looking forward to my meal here as I hadn't visited before.Ambience was lovely, service great .Evening menu was very limited and very expensive in relation to quantity.Food was tasty but just very small portions.Charged for bread and extra for potatoes? Still seemed busy though.Would try again just not dinner menu.

From the first step into the Boars Head we were immediately greeted with a warm welcome, then offered a table for an evening meal and shown to an immaculate, comfortable and tastefully furnished room.
It had a well stocked mini bar and teas, coffees etc.
Fluffy towels, lovely clean shower and comfortable bed.
The meal was delicious, breakfast was so good, and all expertly cooked.
The service was wonderful too.
Would not hesitate to recommend.

We had a great one night stay for our wedding anniversary. Owners David and Justina were brilliant, welcoming hosts. Lovely atmosphere and excellent food and drinks. A top notch gastropub in the heart of Fife.

This place really is as good as the reviews suggest.
We didn't book a table in advance and I wasn't hopeful when we arrived at 2pm on Friday and saw the car park was almost full. As soon as we walked through the door I could tell there was something different about this place. The chap behind the bar welcomed us in as he walked towards us. He seemed genuinely pleased to see us. There was one table left and we were promptly seated.
Our waitress was soon with us talking us through every aspect of the daily specials with enthusiasm. They each sounded amazing but we opted for the set lunch menu.
The food was delicious and it was obvious that whoever was in the kitchen cared as much about the dining experience as those in the front of house.
I can't believe how many times I've driven through Auchtermuchty and never known this restaurant existed. My wife and I both agreed it's a place we'd come back to for something special like a birthday or anniversary treat.

A wonderful family-run hotel with a restaurant! The hosts are incredibly friendly and welcoming, you feel at home from the very first moment. The food in the restaurant is not only delicious but beautifully presented as well. The rooms are cozy, thoughtfully decorated, and clearly made with care and attention to detail. Breakfasts are especially good: hearty, beautifully served, and absolutely delicious. Highly recommended, a perfect place for a relaxing and enjoyable family stay!

Charged well over the odds for 2 course and 1 course with 2 drinks. A wine and a fresh orange. £75 .later found out from the locals in Freuchie that no one ate out at the Boars head as they'd put the prices up when the lomond hills Hotel had shut down due to covid. This is now open, the meals are excellent and the prices are very reasonable. Nearly half the price of the Boars head.

Easter Sunday & the restaurant was full but the restaurant continued to run really well. I had a the roast beef, it was delicious. The accompanying veg were fabulous as were the Yorkshire puddings.
Susie & Ross were attentive, fun & helpful. Everything you want.
Lovely atmosphere, if you've not been 100% recommend a visit!

Great evening with special friends in a great restaurant with really good food in a lovely setting. Special tip of the hat to the chef for the Shetland mussels with nduja butter sauce and the hogget main course cooked to perfection. The staff are excellent and their pride and enthusiasm is infectious, with special thanks to Ross for his attention and introducing us to the Bedoba wine, and the local reference to Luvians in Cupar as a source of same.
The evening closed with a no-show of taxi - no problem, in stepped owner to offer us a lift home and save the day!
Thanks all once again. Excellent.

Lovely lunch here today. Very interesting menu with choice of a la carte or fixed menu with several choices and a pleasant Portuguese house white wine. We were very well looked after by Susie.
