A short walk from the house we were staying in. Bar opens at 4pm with food from 5pm. It's a good idea to book a table so they know you are coming. There's a pool table and dart board in the bar plus a selection of board games. Serving local beers and delicious local produce. Cosy when the fire is roaring and great views too.

Went to the loch shiel hotel for lunch about 12:00 on Aug 21. The bar door was open so we all went in and I looked for a member of staff. The woman I encountered was extremely rude and aggressive and ordered me to get out as the bar was closed. She became more and more angry when I explained that my wife was in the toilet. At one point I thought she was going to attack me. Absolutely awful experience. My wife and I were shaking with fear afterwards. I will never go there again and neither should you.UPDATE 18 Sep 2023Back home in the US and haven?t heard a peep from the hotel management about the shocking behavior of the staff member. I guess that says a lot about their attitude toward their customers.

Our last night staying at The Salen Hotel, we decided to have our evening meal at the Loch Shiel Hotel. Oh boy, what a meal, I had their langoustine platter and Haggis as a starter. It was absolutely gorgeous. If you have a dog, no problem, our 5 month old puppy was welcomed with treats they keep behind the bar.

Lovely rooms with magnificent views over the lake. Really friendly staff and service. Dog-friendly. Excellent food in the main restaurant or bar. Breakfasts fit for a king. Fab location for anyone wanting to explore this beautiful unspoilt area.

We visited for dinner on the last night of a family holiday. The food was excellent quality and very generous portions; between us we tried several different starters, mains and desserts. There was a delay to our meal because of an electrical failure in the kitchen but the staff kept us well informed and did everything possible to make our wait acceptable. They were friendly without being intrusive and the atmosphere was lovely. We would definitely return if we are in the area again.

Though some aspects of our 2-night stay were OK, there were a number of negatives. Firstly, it seems unforgivable if you are paying well over £100 a night that you cannot get access to the hotel until 1600. We arrived at 1540 and found a Belgian couple and a Dutch couple who had been waiting outside for 90 minutes to get in. It was raining quite heavily, so touring around on their bikes was not an attractive alternative. There is not much else to do on a rainy Scottish day in Ardnamurchan. The room was a bit basic, and the couch had seen better days a few years ago. Of the 18 places we have stayed in since the end of May in Portugal, Greece, the UK, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland, this was the worst and poorest value, followed by the Travelodge in Richmond. The other unforgivable thing was that it seemed that recently they had fitted new carpets at least in the stairs to the bedrooms and in the bedrooms themselves. What was amateurish and unforgivable was that the doors had not been taken off their hinges and planed down to reflect the thicker carpets. The result was that fire doors would not close automatically or were very difficult to close, meaning that they were left open almost all the time during our stay. I am not sure what would have happened if there was a fire. The food at breakfast and dinner was OK but it was nothing special. Dinner was not particularly good value. If we were visiting the area again, we would choose self-catering accommodation. I recommend anyone else to consider the same.

Two-night stay. The rooms are very comfortable, and the staff are welcoming and friendly. (The hotel is showing its age and could do with a spring clean but is nevertheless a lovely place to stay). Bar and restaurant are open to the public so sometimes you may have to wait for your food, but it's worth it! (Prices on the menu are reasonable and cheaper than some other local restaurants, with plenty of courses to choose from).Situated in a beautifully secluded and peaceful area in Acharacle.(Unfortunately, the ferry is no longer available from Curran, so you have to get to it via Fort William which can add 30 to 40 minutes to your journey). The surrounding area is stunning but be careful when driving as the roads can be single-lane and narrow (but plenty of passing places).Highly recommended if you want to get away from it all!Places of interest include Silver Sands of Morar(a must-see) and Mallaig to the north and Kilchoan/Ardnamurchan along the southern coast. (12th century Church off-road at Kilchoan which requires a short walk).Rooms: Room was spacious and en-suite. Bed comfortable.

We have just returned from our weekend at Loch Shiel Hotel. We booked this hotel as we planned to go and visit all the stunning beaches and possibly camp out one night. The hotel was better than our expectations! Fun and friendly bar! Lovely and cosy. We were happy to find board games :) breakfast was lovely and we LOVED our meals for dinner. Fish was huge and the macaroni cheese was delicious and well sized. Fab prices too. Staff were very friendly and welcomed our dog Betty . The hotel owner (sorry I'm terrible with names) even offered to drive us to one of the local beaches! We will definitely be back and bringing our children next time. Thank you so much for having us :)

What a wonderful find.tucked away far from the madding crowd ? We stayed for 2 nights in a room with a view.very clean room, comfy beds and good bathroom. The daily shortbread was a great, personal touch. We will definitely be back and would recommend a stay here. I can?t comment on the bar as we didn?t eat or drink there.

On arrival had to enter by the back entrance. There was no meet and greet. The check in was at the bar. The room/hotel is in need of a makeover and was freezing. Manager did sort the heating out which was great. Food was very nice which was the high point of the stay.

Went for an evening meal in the restaurant with friends and my dog. The staff were so lovely and welcoming and the food was delicious - I had the venison pie - a generous portion with lots of veg and a chocolate and orange tart for dessert - will definitely be back when I?m next up there.

This small hotel is perfectly located for exploring the wild and beautiful west coast. The staff are very welcoming and the room was comfortable. Speciality local dishes are cooked by the singing chef.
