Our visit to Morrisons Cafe in Arbroath didn't get off to a good start. Due to the fryer being broken, I was unable to order the fish and chips, which is my usual meal of choice. As an alternative, I picked the sausage, egg, beans, and chips, which was, in all fairness, freshly cooked and hot. At the time of ordering, they only had forks and spoons set out in the cutlery trays. I asked the staff member who brought our meals to the table, if I could have a knife. The person said they would get one for me. But being obvious short staffed, or perhaps Morrisons are just cutting back on staff to save money, no knife was produced. I should point out here that whatever the reason for the lack of staff, those who were working were doing their very best in the face of extremely difficult conditions. I had to wait until I saw the cutlery trays being replenished, then get up and fetch one myself. I say replenished, but only about six knives were placed back in the tray. I noted that unlike previous visits, there were no sachets of sauce, ketchup, and salad cream. Only a tub of vinegar and salt sachets were available, and no napkins were provided. My wife asked staff for some butter to put on her scone, and was told someone would bring some over to our table. It was never materialised. Although the standard of food could be described as satisfactory, the standard of service was very poor. Added to all this, we noted that the prices had risen substantially since our last visit. We have enjoyed many enjoyable meals in Morrisons Cafe in Arbroath in the past, but based on today's visit, it is very unlikely that we will be back. If Morrisons don't do something urgently to reverse the downward slide of its cafe, they may find that they will lose far more customers.

Food took ages to arrive, servers grumpy, only gave us one out of 5 soups, wrong sandwiches, pretty bad food etc.
Overall poor experience, would not recommend.

According to the old adage, you get what you pay for ? and in the case of the cafe at Morrisons, Arbroath, it is unedible burnt offerings. Two breakfasts purchased; an Ultimate Scottish Breakfast and a Full Scottish Breakfast. The half tomato on one plate was eaten, as were the rubbery fried eggs. But the fried bread, the bacon, black pudding, lorne sausage and potato scones were burnt to cinders ? and left.

Visited around 10:45 and cafe was very quiet. Ordered via the touch screen at the café entrance, and food did not take long to arrive.Ordered a lorne sausage roll, a bacon roll, a link sausage roll and two coffees, which you collect from the self service coffee machines yourself. The lorne sausage roll, although a little overcooked, was ok. Instead of a bacon roll and a sausage roll, I was served two sausage rolls with one sausage on each? I immediately sent them back because one of them should have been a bacon roll and for £2.99 each, I wasn?t happy with one sausage on my sausage roll. The mistake was rectified pretty quickly, and I then received a bacon roll and a roll with two sausages. They tasted ok, but could have been hotter. The coffee was not good at all.I feel for the price paid, the food and service (accuracy of order), were pretty poor and it will definitely put me off visiting again. Not sure if this is typical for this cafe, but it could explain why it was so quiet when we visited.

As very regular users of Morrison?s cafe and finding it excellent we were hugely disappointed to discover the usual sandwiches have been replaced with baguettes which are very difficult for elderly people to cope with. A large number of the customers are elderly and it is very noticeable that numbers in cafe are greatly reduced. We are regular users of Morrison?s all over the country and consider the Montrose cafe is one of the best so please bring back the sandwich for lunch or we will all have to find another venue
