Extremely helpful - always sharing their expert knowledge and advice in everything! I would never hesitate buying at Home Hardware Alness.I bought a very strong three seater garden bench. I'd been considering it for a while and should not have hesitated. It was a little tricky putting it together on my own but I am 67, disabled and severely Dyspraxic. You may need help putting a bench together if you are not used to building flat pack furniture. I should have found it easy having had over 45 years experience at it! A quick call to the shop reassured me and I soon had it built and ready to coat it with teak oil.Everyone has been admiring it. It's extremely strong and should easily take three heavy people. The wood is lovely and extremely smooth finish - no risk of splinters from any of this bench! I love it. I'm currently sitting outside eating my breakfast and it's just great to be able to sit outside on my lovely new bench.Knowing I have somewhere to sit when people stop to chat is going to be extremely helpful. Those times when you would just love to chat but standing up is just too painful.Thank you so much for all your helpful advice with all home issues: painting my new home with your very reasonably priced quality paint; helping me choose when I just can't make a decision and just everything else to do with home maintenance.A wonderful place to shop where prices are just as low as driving all the way to Inverness!

This hardware shop is located on Alness High Street, with another similar shop next to it. With both shops originally formed from houses that had part of their ground floor front rooms turned into small shops, in the late 1960s, the small village of that time started to grow as new housing estates were built to house the influx of workers required by an oil rig production yard, plus an aluminium smelter being built onthe northern shores of the Cromarty Firth. Now Alness is classed as a small town, with more housing being built on many areas of farmland and vacant spaces surrounding Alness. As a result the small shops had extensions built out to the rear of the houses, making long but narrow shops, though both of these hardware shops seem to carry a reasonable and varied amount of items, and if an item isn't in stock, or has sold out, the staff are only too willing to try to order the item, which might arrive in a couple of days, but saving a 40+ round drive, or bus ride into Inverness.

Family run business with a level of customer care you only get with small local businesses. Good range of products and what they don't have they can usually get within a few days
