We visited Cameron house for afternoon tea in The Lobby. Overall it was an absolutely fantastic experience made all the better by the amazing staff Helena and Megan. Helena made us amazing cocktails and even managed to alter a recipe to make it non alcoholic. The service was incredible and we?ll definitely be back

The truth in my opinion, this is not a 5 star resort. The restaurant foods in the Cameron Grill, Boathouse and Cameron Club are at best pub food and charged at extortionate prices. Further they add a compulsory charge of 12% for service that is non existent and poor at best. We stayed a week and honestly got fed up of the poor service, and "curt" staff by the second day. It always felt poor value for money. More than happy to pay top money for great service and food but this is not the case with Cameron House and ended up feeling robbed. The old house has also been ruined by a built on modern complex that appears desperate to charge unreasonable rates to compensate for the investment. The reception staff need training on being polite to customers, we visited the main building daily and not once did the reception staff greet us. Sad really. Ordered a bottle of expensive wine for a waiter turn up and had no clue how to open it. I ended up having to ask and take the bottle away from him to open the wine? ( Boathouse) . Not worth the money. In my opinion you will end up out of pocket for what will appear and feel like a 3 star experience.

Service is shocking! Wait forever on anything. Food served cold. Restaurant empty and still couldn?t cope with my burger or Fanta orange. 4 times I asked for my Fanta and a Diet Coke. Unbelievable to be honest. Worst service I?ve seen. Most definitely not a 5 star hotel.

Stunning location but not 5 star. Just back from a week in the lodges. They are nice, but really really cold - and we had stayed before so knew the prohibitive prices that were being charged for electricity in those lodges so kept the heating to a minimum. In a 5 star place to be left only 2 toilet rolls and 2 teabags seemed very tight (we did ask and were told we needed to buy our own once they ran out). The Grill - Had a really excellent meal in the grill on the first night - food and service were great. Staff were clearly new but worked hard and very polite. Sadly we started at the best restaurant and it never lived up to that again. Boathouse - went there and were told we couldn?t get food due to a corporate event - which had never been mentioned when arriving or even on signs at the boathouse to save us having to sit and wait 20 mins to be served and then told they were not doing food. Went back the next night instead and the food was good but not justifying the very high prices. The gentleman that served us was great but looked like he was the only person working and also seemed very new. Tavern - the Thursday pub quiz was fun. The food was terrible. I laughed when I saw the other review on here about nachos. It was my experience too. Worst nachos I?ve ever had the misfortune of being charged £12 for! Inedible. They also add service charge to everything - even if you go to the bar and order 2 beers and take them to the table yourself. Very cheeky. Every restaurant was plagued by really slow service, which in a 5 star venue just isn?t acceptable. Clubhouse - food was also terrible - asked for a Caesar salad with grilled chicken breast and no anchovies - they never mentioned the anchovies were in the sauce - good thing I wasn?t allergic! The chicken was pre-cooked and cold cubes of chicken ? Cameron spa - great to have the option of all the thermal rooms and hydropools, but it feels dated. Really needs a refresh. Lots of cracks in the ceiling and water leaks coming through - on multiple floors. The infrared sauna smelled like pee so did not stay in there!! I wouldn?t pay to use that again, there are much better options in the central belt. Reception felt a bit frantic and someone was telling me that their massage had started 20 mins late both times they had been. My massage with Lucie was really fantastic and she was excellent, would recommend her. All of the staff were so busy trying to deal with lots of big events across the week (dog show and then some corporate events) that I think they were not left with much time to deal with actual guests. Many of the staff seem really new and there seems to be no one in charge or guiding / training them. Service and attention to detail isn?t there to make this a 5 star quality. I?d say they are working at a 3.5 star level but still pushing the 5 star prices.

Oh?where to start. Let?s get the positives out the way first. The two bell-persons we interacted with were outstanding. Brought our luggage to our rooms, and the lovely woman who helped retrieve our car from valet was amazing and gave us great day trip advice. From there, this review goes downhill. First, the pictures on the Costco site where we booked are deceiving. They show the main entrance, but neglect to show the giant new addition added onto the hotel. While we picked this place for country-side charm, when we arrived it?s more like corporate retreat mega-complex. When we got to our room, our soap dispenser cap was opened and laying on the bathroom sink. This was our first indicator of questionable service. On our first night, we went to the Boat House for dinner. The food was solid and well-prepared, but it was painful to watch the server try to open a bottle of wine. It was clear that he had never used a corkscrew before, and we offered to show him how, but he struggled and essentially just ripped the cork out of the bottle by sheer might, rather than using the two-level system the corkscrew offered. The next night, we went to The Great Scot?s bar for a cocktail before dinner. There, we were told there was a private party in an hour. We asked if we could have one drink, and the server said sure. Then, minutes later, two additional staff came in asking ?what are they doing here? and we totally felt unwelcome. 10 minutes later, we were asked to move to the other side of the bar away from the windows. They said they ?rescheduled the event? and were 5 minutes away from coming down. 20 minutes later, we finished our drink and nobody was down there. When our bill came, we crossed out the service charge and the manager came over. He explained that the events team booked the space, and encouraged me to ?send him an email? to express my frustration, as he shared my frustration, saying the events team often does that. He also encouraged me to share his card later for a free drink. For the price we paid, I didn?t feel as a guest I should have to ?send an email? after talking to a member of management, and as I walked by the main desk to retire, I asked to speak to the hotel manager. I explained our unpleasant experience in Scot?s bar, and he said that shouldn?t have happened, and I should not have had to send an email for anything. He also asked for my room number, but did nothing with it. No apology note, no compensation for our cocktails, nothing. The next day, we went to the Cameron House Grill for a $250 dinner. The food was delicious, and we were happy. Claire was supposed to be our server and Ruby showed up. She did a good job. Until we asked for the bill. After that, it was 30 minutes with nobody coming to check on us. We learned that in Scotland it is customary to ?ask? for the check to be delivered, so we did. Then, nothing?for 30 minutes. Water dry, wine finished. We finally had to walk up to the very nice host to ask that someone deliver our check. The next morning at breakfast, we were seated and waited at least 15 minutes before nobody came. From there, we just got our breakfast buffet ourselves and eventually flagged down a bus boy for coffee. While our coffee was en route, the server finally arrived. Now?to set the stage?there were about a dozen people in the restaurant at this stage, so clearly they were not busy. Next up, the housekeeping staff. On our first night, the housekeeping staff didn?t replace our milk or one of our coffees. On the second day, we returned to our room at 3pm only for it now to have been made up. We did another walk, and showed up 45 minutes later to find three younger housekeeping staff gabbing outside our room ? almost like it was a high school social. When we asked them to let us into our room, they politely did so, but we discovered that ? although the room was made up ? 1) they didn?t leave any fresh water 2) no milk (again) 3) only 1 of 2 coffees 4) no spoons 5) no water glasses, 6) no water. Seriously? Luckily, the women were still in the hall so we asked got most of this. As

I recently visited from Glasgow on sunny day and sat outside at the sportsman bar/restaurant. Service was so slow, took ages to take drink order and there was only 2 other tables with people. I had to then go to the bar to order food. I got Mozzarella sticks Which were obviously deep fried too much the cheese had came out or it had disintegrated and had no cheese inside just hollow tubes that where solid. I?ve had better ones from Iceland. I also ordered the cheese nachos, the cheese had melted so much they had stuck all nachos together u couldn?t lift one nacho then they just added the salsa and sour cream on top but underneath it was like a brick and I couldn?t separate them at all. I think they had been put in a microwave then the cheese had gone cold before the added the topping. Also the nachos where large and thick like big bits of cardboard. I couldn?t eat any of the food it was so bad. Very disappointed and actually felt sick after it and had to drive all the way back to glasgow.

Stayed 1 night during our 3 week driving holiday around the UK staying at 5 star hotels along the way. Outstand property with brilliant staff. Larger hotel of our trip but didn't disappoint. Well appointed rooms with comfortable beds. Lovely location situated on Loch Lomond provided a fantastic backdrop. Was everything a 5 star hotel should be.

Stayed for 1 night after finishing the NC500. Great staff and experience there. Tried tea, restaurant for dinner & breakfast. All great experiences. Very helpful staff. Walked into town and had a lovely walk from hotel. We were able to use their umbrellas. Overall, great stay. We were able to move from the modern side of the hotel to the historic side, which was important for us, since we are visiting and want to experience the historical aspects. The staff was very gracious and accommodating to help us change rooms.

We had a wonderful stay at Cameron house on 2nd Sep. Everything was perfect , we stayed in a classic double room which was very spacious. The staff were excellent and very attentive (as you would expect from a 5 star hotel) Loch Lomond is a special place - CH is in a perfect location to explore. It was a lovely sunny day on the Saturday - we enjoyed walks along the shoreline, the scenery is beautiful, we enjoyed drinks in the garden area?..beers for me and wine / cocktails for my good lady . Lovely setting snd atmosphere ? We had dinner at the Cameron grill that evening?.the fillet steak was cooked beautifully ( it?s not cheap - certainly worth it though) . Lovely ambience. On the Sunday we enjoyed lunch at in the bar area, good sizes portions and tasty food. I watched the football on big TV. The breakfast was served in the Cameron grill area?..a wide selection to choose from, all food was well presented. Superb ? It was all capped off by a champagne cruise, only 7 of us were onboard so lots of space. The cruise lasted 1 hour which is long enough, the scenery is breathtaking. A young couple got engaged onboard which made things that extra special. 10/10 for the Cameron House?..lovely stay, we?ll certainly be back

There isn't really any nice way of saying this, but the staff are rude and that ruined the whole stay. Its a beautiful location, but was not up to scratch for what is billed as an international 5 star hotel. On arrival, the valet staff were polite and friendly, but the reception staff were disorganised and rude (kind of like sullen teenagers- my favourite bit was when one of them rolled her eyes at me). There is limited disabled access, so if you have resticted mobility you couldn't be there without a companion to assist. For example there is no disabled parking, they require you to use the valet which means you have to hang about whilst someone finds your keys and brings your car. If this is the service they are insisting on, then it needs to be slick otherwise it is just inconvenient. The grill restaurant has a beautiful view, but the upholstery of the chairs is frayed and you have attract the attention of staff to order anything. On the day of check out someone came to our door and asked for £138 for housekeeping!! Which was bizarre and confusing as making the beds and proving clean towels was the extent of housekeeping involvement. This sounds like a really long moan, but at nearly £700 a night it should be perfect and it has a long way to go. I know it's "cameron house" but there are alot of lovely hotels in that part of the world that are better in terms of service.

This hotel is beautifully situated and the grounds are lovely. Reception and offices are in the old mansion house. Behind that is a long rectangular block, end-on, housing the restaurants, bars and swimming pool. Behind that block is the long accommodation block, also end-on. Moving between each block involves climbing several steps and negotiating several sets of fire doors, no mean feat when you have to carry your own suitcases as we had to do. One young lad did help us, but none of the kilted or tartan clothed staff milling around the front door bothered to help move our two cases and several bags up the main steps into Reception (we are both in our mid-seventies, fortunately fit). Presumably they are just there to look ?Scottish?, or maybe they had more important things to do! Construction of the accommodation block has obviously been done on the cheap. There is only one smallish lift at the junction of the two blocks to serve four floors. A lift at the far end, close to the car parks, where guests could drop off their luggage for direct delivery to their room would be a worthwhile addition. As it is, the difficulty of getting luggage to and from rooms is the main reason for my downgrade. While there is good air conditioning in the rooms, there is none in the corridors which were uncomfortably warm. The food is good, if pricey. Afternoon tea was a bit disappointing in that we were seated at an extremely low table, about 18 inches high, with two sofas to match. While our server was very nice, having your knees between the table and yourself is not conducive to an enjoyable experience. Breakfast in the main restaurant is a buffet but a server is needed for tea, coffee and toast. We were seated at the same table each morning, and it appeared to be a server-free zone. On our first day none stopped by, although a number milled about, tending elsewhere. Eventually, we collared the assistant manager. On the second day, we repeated the experiment. Again, we watched later arrivals be served until, you guessed it, we had to waylay the AM again! So clearly the staff are not very far up the learning curve. All the hotel staff appeared to be local, and it may be that it is missing the smart and industrious East European hotel and restaurant workers who are not so much in evidence any more.

We had an amazing family room in the new wing of the hotel, great sized room for a family of four, with a lovely balcony and view of the loch. The hotel is looking in great shape, the staff were friendly and efficient and the food was great throughout our stay. We didn?t want to come home!

We had the most amazing stay at Cameron House with our family. From the minute you arrive in your car and are welcomed by friendly attentive staff who whisk away your luggage and park your car for you. The choice of restaurants and bars and the whole ambiance takes your breath away. It is always a magical experience and definitely our favourite hotel to stay in Scotland. Cameron House you were amazing and we will definitely be back. Very special memories made with our children.

Went on the champagne cruise in the afternoon of our arrival. Hannah was the absolute perfect hostess and kept us well entertained with tales and information of the local area. The champagne was top notch, Louis Roderer, beautiful and we even managed a couple of small top ups! Sipho?s helmsmanship was brilliant and the whole experience was just superb from start to finish. Hannah and Sipho were very entertaining, thanks for going the extra mile to make our anniversary trip perfect!

Cameron House was the highlight of our week travelling Scotland. It truly was 5-star from start to finish! Edna, Jill and Emma at the front desk were consummate professionals who made us feel at complete ease every step of our stay. The gents greeting us at the door made every effort to make us feel like 5-star guests. I cannot overstate how amazing the staff and Cameron House itself are.
