Service was not what I expected for a restaurant attached to an expensive resort. The manager (?) was frantic, looking to be very overwhelmed with what looked like 3 tables/parties in the restaurant. The young boys working didn?t speak one word to me, dumping my plate on my table without a word muttered. The meal itself (Veg burger & Beef burger my partner had) was decent, but I won?t be in a rush to return.

We were booked into the hotel but decided to eat at Rafters last night. The food was terrible and had we not been in a hurry as we were heading out and starving, we would have sent it back.We had the fish and chips and it was way over cooked, the chips were actually burnt and the batter on the fish was rock hard. The fat or oil that it was cooked in was obviously needing changed too as you could taste the dirty fat. Then there was the peas, they were supposedly in truffle oil but horrible. The manager, if doing his job properly should have removed the food when he saw it but all he said was I?ll take the comments on board. Really really bad.So we ate at the Faerie Tree tonight in Aberfoyle, where we saw others from the hotel!!!! The food here was first class.

Pub menu, with a smell of chlorine and no air! Overlooking the pool, sticky tables and menus and really greedy food. Would not go back, just poor standards, with one exception, the manager. He was the most attentive of anyone the whole weekend, he did really well and I appreciated his professionalism

The starters (Haggis) was excellent, the Mains (burger) was hopeless (RIP, poor beef), the Wine (Italian) was good, the Service was intringuingly insistent, the Ambience was passable (with a customer's dog barking non stop) and the Bill inflated. Touche!

We were staying at the hotel and decided to eat at Rafters rather than travel into Aberfoyle (felt the garden restaurant in the main hotel was a bit smart for our two year old). Despite checking when I made the reservation there was no children's menu so very little to choose from for children - despite this being advertised as a family friendly option. We also couldn't order a portion of vegetables to go with our meal as apparently kitchen had no vegetables. And when the food came it was so disappointing. Dry burgers with soggy oil soaked chips and Mac and cheese which tasted as though it came straight out of box and had never seen the inside of an oven. To top it all off, two burgers, Mac and cheese (kids portion) and a side salad of plain leaves and tomatoes cost £50. Shocked at how bad the food was here for a hotel such a this. Had better at McDonald's. The service was however wonderfully friendly and made us feel very welcome but completely let down by the kitchen.

If you are staying at the hotel eat at the main restaurant and not here! Booked a table to be told when we arrived that there was no table, so had to sit at the bar, food was average at best, service was not great and the waiter didn?t really know what many of the dishes included.
