We had high hopes for Norwood Hall Hotel, but our stay was marred by a series of frustrating issues. We had to change rooms three times. The first was directly over the reception area of a wedding?music was blaring so loudly it felt like a stereo in our room. The night manager admitted this room was ?notoriously bad? and moved us to another? only to find it half-used, with water bottles open and the bed disturbed. He quickly turned it for us, and by midnight we were resettled.
The second room was blessedly quiet, but the bed was so uncomfortable we had to move again the next morning. The third room, at the far end of the building, was quiet and the bed comfortable enough, but it was hot and muggy. The in-room safe didn?t work, which was unsettling?especially after a casual remark from the night manager about a ?tendency for theft? among cleaning staff.
Breakfast was good, though the servers seemed oddly stiff and secretive. Despite placing the ?room service? sign out on our wedding day, housekeeping never came. Our first night?s dinner was enjoyable, and they kindly comped a couple glasses of champagne, but after that, there was no acknowledgement from staff that we were celebrating a wedding.
Small but telling inconsistencies added to the disappointment?some rooms had shampoo and conditioner, others didn?t; amenities varied from room to room. The building itself is beautiful, with impressive grounds, charming hallways, and lovely dining spaces. It feels like a place that could be exceptional, but either ownership or upper management has let standards slip. I can?t speak for what?s happening behind the scenes, but the staff?s subdued, almost oppressed demeanor was noticeable. Sadly, the bones are there, but the experience fell far short.

This hotel is comfortable and traditional. The dining area, bar and foyer are old fashioned but in a good way, as the furnishings are antique. The staff are smartly dressed and pleasant. The rooms are spacious and the beds huge and comfortable. If you are looking for a whitewashed funky hotel with generic pictures on the walls, look elsewhere.

Robert answered the phone for my room enquiry and he was nothing short of perfection. An absolute gentleman, helpful, professional and charismatic. Have not stayed here but would rate it 5 stars just for this man

Almost perfect. The room was huge and very comfortable - homely. The food was excellent, and it was nice to have the option to have breakfast delivered. I don't feel check in was done properly as he just gave me the card and took me to the lift, where normally I'd expect to be told about breakfast and where key things are. There were a couple of mismatches between written info and actual service: the welcome letter said breakfast was from 7am, but service was from 7.30am when I phoned reception to ask if I needed to book. The breakfast room service menu offered bircher muesli (which is almost like overnight oats), and I was served regular dry muesli. I did request no feather bedding, and this was confirmed to me by reception, but they did have a cushion on my bed that had feathers. I also happened to notice a significant amount of dust under the TV cabinet, so addressing this would make the place friendlier to asthmatic people. I initially had a manky kettle that had weird sticky grime on it and black spots inside, but when I mentioned this to reception they replaced the kettle immediately and it wasn't an issue. This sounds like a lot of complaints, but they were all exceptionally minor things and it definitely didn't detract from the enjoyment of my stay. I will be staying here again for sure!

We decided to honeymoon here as it looked beautiful, the location is good, the building and all the communal areas do not disappoint. We checked in and the staff were very pleasant. They took us to our room through a long, damp and worrying corridor. The room itself was functional and clean but there was zero luxury so a little disappointing. It was fairly small with a reasonably comfy double bed, there was the usual tea/coffee tray. Unfortunately the bathroom was tiny, the door did not shut, the shower was incredibly old and took forever to get warm. The award winning restaurant was not for us, the food was fine, the staff were again pleasant but we were seated in a corner facing into the restaurant and nobody seemed comfortable. The staff were all helpful and polite. We did enjoy our trip.

Norwood Hall Hotel is a wedding gem! With its grand interiors and stunning grounds, it?s the perfect backdrop for a love story. The team here is incredible?so organised, friendly, and always making sure the day flows effortlessly. Every wedding I?ve shot here has been full of magic, and I can?t wait to be back capturing more beautiful moments!

Room a bit dated and bed a touch too soft. Did not realise the room booked was an accessibility bathroom/wet room and felt really slippy on the tiled floor. Not too much space for sitting in the lounge or the library. Staff really friendly (especially the lovely lady in the bar).

The location of the hotel is amazing. The front of the hotel and reception got us really excited as it looks beautiful, but the rooms are really disappointing. They are dated and seem like they haven't been deep cleaned for ages. Dirty carpets, dated look of the bathroom. Still overall 3 stars from me as their service was decent, location was amazing and the breakfast we had was delicious. There were a lot of options.
