I am 12 years old and this evening I had the most perfectly cooked and seasoned ribs of my life. The service was good with joyfull staff and quick delivery, this is a great pub for a hearty evening out.
I recommend this to all, family or alone.

Had pre-booked table of six for 1pm Sunday lunch. At 2.15pm we still had not been served although staff apologised for the delay but no offer of a complimentary round of drinks or anything. When food came only 5 of the 6 meals, they had overlooked one order and so we all ate slowly whilst hoping the other person?s food would come which it did, 20mins later. Our friend?s gluten-free Sunday lunch was served dry, no gravy, no Yorkshire pudding, no sausage, no stuffing, no cauliflower cheese - all things that can readily be made gluten-free! Had to wait 10mins for gluten-free gravy which was clearly vegetable stock or something. No condiments on tables, no offer of mint sauce or horseradish, really disappointing having read such positive reviews and checked in advance re ability to do a decent gluten-free meal. Desserts were served more swiftly and were good as was coffee but tea served in small cup and saucer with tea bag left in and nothing to put tea bag on. No finesse and certainly very basic waitressing attention. Really disappointed and wouldn?t return.

Stopped in during our days walking steak and ale pie, chips, peas and gravy delicious as was the scampi, chips, peas and salad. Followed by two sticky toffee puddings with lashings of sauce, probably the best we have had. Dog friendly. Great, quick service, highly recommended

Stopped as another local pub had no spaces. Brilliant timing as after us they ran out of food.

Asked if the chips are vegan, I was told they're fried in the same oil as all the meat and fish, but yeah, they're potatoes so they're vegan. Took the Guinness back as the glass said Guinness 0 alcohol. Told they don't do draught 0 alcohol Guinness so obviously this pint contains alcohol. Sorry, I don't know that, I don't work there. Barman wasn't very polite or professional.

A lovely pub off the beaten track, friendly staff and good food and beer.

Had a Sunday lunch here. Roast beef. It was ok but underwhelming. Tough meat. Over boiled veggies. Under cooked parsnip. Instant gravy. Honestly expected better. Nice pub in top location. OK for a drink or maybe a snack.

Unfortunately we didn't have a great experience here. The food was very poor for the price it was.
Service wasn't great either. Staff member was unhelpful when asked a question about the food.
Very dissapointing experience and will not go there again

Staying close by on a family holiday and we visited the pub several times for drinks and dinner. Outside area was good, particularly after a sweaty bike ride. In door seating was also good and with a friendly atmosphere. We would recommend a visit.

One of the famous pubs if your lapping Rutland water on foot or by bicycle. Had a nice meal off the lunchtime menu. Excellent pint of abbot as well . Last visited in may 2018 still a lovely pub but feel a lick of paint outside and some work done on the outside tables would be money well spent .

The place has a bit of a monopoly.
