Great place to stay the night. The food in the restaurant is excellent and there's a good menu to order breakfast from in the morning. Beer garden on a sunny evening is divine.

I stayed in No. 6. The room served its purpose but I found that the blinds did not do much to keep any light out in late evenings or early mornings in late spring/early summer. The room has no windows that open, meaning that it?s stuffy inside. There is also no AC - just a couple of old fans that makes a lot of noise if you are using it all night (which you have to, given that the windows are not able to be opened). I was relieved to have brought ear plugs. I generally found the interior design to be quite dark, especially in the bathroom, and the room could use a bit more investment and care especially given the lack of AC and small details such as a scruffy bath mat.
I want to add that the staff was exceptional and the dinner is also great at the venue. The location was perfect and very central, too. I was happy with my stay, all in all, I just think that there needs to be a refurbishment of the room I was in.

Booked a room for a birthday at the Hornblower. Could not have asked for more! The room was clean and comfortable, and everything you would imagine from the price you will pay and the staff were amazing. One thing that most will not comment on is the breakfast. Simply the best full English breakfast I have ever had. I will be coming back.

Had a fantastic impromptu Sunday lunch here. The service was excellent and the food was spot on. The setting outside was lively but subdue. Very relaxing. The toilets were very clean, and overall the pub was a really nice place to visit.

Stayed at the Hornblower several times over the last ten years. It's a fabulous pub in a great central location in Oakham and we love it! Cozy bars with open fires in the colder months and great outside seating for the warmer weather. Nice clean rooms with comfy beds and big soft towels. Fab food and great beer (with well kept cask ales) and wine selection. Great food too. A classic British pub! ????

Central location but quiet so we slept well. We stayed in room 10 in the stable block across from the main building. The breakfast offered plenty of choice and was expertly cooked. The bed was comfy and the room was clean, warm and all the facilities we needed. The staff were welcoming, incredibly helpful and accommodating.

The Hornblower is a great pub with rooms and a great place to stay for access to Oakham, Rutland or journeys north and south on the A1.
The room was lovely with a great period 4 poster bed. The bathroom was a good size and impressively clean. The shower had good water pressure.
The hotel is right on the high street so there could be traffic noise at night but by 11pm the road was quiet and almost empty. I was not disturbed at all.
Beth who managed the check in, breakfast order and check out was friendly throughout the stay.
