This was our first time at HB, and we chose to visit for lunch. We arrived at 12 for 12.30. The service we received was very pleasant and attentive, we were not rushed at all. I had the cheese souffle to start, (which is my favourite,) and it was the nicest I have ever had; followed by the fillet of sea bass, crab and chiv risotto and fennel salad. All cooked to perfection. My husband had the cornish crab scotsh egg and bisque, which looked amazing, and he said tasted just as it looked, followed by the breast of duck again cooked to perfection.

First time visit for lunch today, won't be the last. Food and service were excellent. My starter of Crab with Avocado was delicious followed by Pork three ways, fillet, belly and cheek all cooked superbly. A dessert of chocolate mousse with cherry sorbet was rich and indulgent. Thoroughly recommend eating here and I will definitely be back.

Visited here several years running now, once a year - the locally-sourced food, and rather odd combinations are an absolute delight - the flavours are something else (not living in the UK, I'm not familiar with much flavour in most UK restaurants I've visited!).
Lovely wines, and the hosts are delightful to chat to, a lot of humour. Looking forward to returning already!

My wife and I have waited just over 2 months for our first visit to Hichens Barn and we can only say that the first visit exceeded all our expectations, fantastic food, fantastic flavours, fantastic presentation, wonderful Spanish wine of the month. This visit started with excellent smiles from the two young ladies on reception all the way through to the fond farewell and confirming our second visit in early September, thank you Hitchens Barn and very well done especially to the people you rarely get to see or meet.......in the kitchen.....very well done.

We booked the private dining area for a wedding party. The food and service were incredible and we can't thank Louise (and Evie) enough for the hospitality on the day. We were so happy we chose Hitchens barn and can't wait to return.

Always a pleasure! Delicious food, locally sourced, amazing attention to detail and mouth watering.. always. Lovely relaxed service, never feel rushed. The soufflé is to die for, scallops always a must, and every main I?ve ever had has been top notch. Thank you, you all obviously work incredibly hard, and deserved all the recognition you receive.

Really enjoyed our Hitchens Barn lunch experience. Very accommodating of the toddler in our group, really good service and above all the food ( souffle, scotch eggs, soup, fish dishes and one meat course) was beautifully presented and tasted really good. Special mention for the 3 course set menu that one person had which was specially good value.
Only downside is need to put plenty of time aside on Saturday for parking.. which I didn't so was late.

Went here for a lunch for less and the food, at £23 for two courses or £27 for three was outstanding. Lovely leisurely service and a fabulous experience. Spring flowers on every surface. Superb.
