Since moving to Oxfordshire from Norfolk it?s been difficult to find a good Chinese takeaway.
But today we found this gem in Witney.
The gentleman behind the counter was very patient and answered all our questions. The meal was delicious. Perhaps a little more juice/liquid would have been nice, but yum. We will be returning regularly to try all their dishes.

I seldom have takeaway meals. Even more rarely Chinese meals. However I live near by and I've been wanting to try the Water Margin. I've been twice in a couple of months. The food I've had on both occasions has been fresh, of a high standard and light in flavour. Not over powered with heavy soy and sesame which is common in most Chinese takeaways. It's a delight to find and when I try some traditionally heavier dishes I'll update. However so far it's been a delight and I do recommend trying for yourselves.

The food at the water margin is always hot and very tasty and worth the money. It is takeaway only bit food still hot when we get it home. Jenny and her husband and their son do an amazing job. Well done team.

I'd heard this place was worth a try in the past so I gave it a go.
Awful!! Tasteless food, the curry had absolutely no flavour whatsoever and was like water as you will see in the photo.
Curry included boiled rice but could upgrade to egg fried which did. I had no idea that meant crack an egg over my boiled rice! Again wet and flavourless.
Sometimes I like to give the benefit of the doubt and give another chance but that ain't happening on this occasion.
I've had better ribs from aldi. All I can say is the Chinese I normally get has a constant que on the phone and this place the phone rang twice on a Friday and that alone told me all I needed to know before I even looked in the bag.

If ever a place was completely under the radar it would be The Water Margin. I only decided to try it because I would see dozens of cars stop constantly outside there, all coming out with their bags of untold goodies. So it was that three years ago I decided to wander in from the streets and see what delights were contained within. After a brief view of the menu I decided to try the set meal for 2, hoping to get a sense of the place and my mind was blown. Not only is it delicious 'classic' Chinese takeaway, but it's served fast and with great care for the consumer. The ladies that man the phones/front desk are absolute wizards at time management and will get you through the tricky task of finding the best meal for you. It's fab.

Big order placed for a family gathering, found Water Margin online, good reviews so gave it a go, they handled it well and in good time and food was lovely and fresh and well-prepared.

First time visiting the Water Margin. Very good phone manners when I placed my order. Ready exactly on time. Great selection of food. Went for the spicy beef and black bean sauce - bit too spicy for some in my party. The house special Szechuan chicken and cashew nuts was truly excellent.
