Location is stunning.
However, for the price i would not recommend staying again.
We just stayed a night and overall for the price found it disappointing.
Room cleanliness was bad, there were dirty towels and a coke bottle left under a bedside table. We had requested morning papers and neither room got any.
The Wychwood is also incredibly hot, and although a fan is provided it does not alleviate the temperature at all.
The lady who appeared to be the manager was screaming at staff whilst we were waiting to be served for breakfast and didn?t seem at all concerned that customers could hear her.
Avocado had been requested with eggs at breakfast and never delivered.
When checking out, the manager didn?t seem to have a clue that we had already paid and couldn?t find any evidence of it.
She also seemed completely unbothered by the mention of the above room cleanliness issues and missing morning papers.
The only lovely staff member was a young girl with red curly long hair, she was lovely and incredibly professional.
Not a great experience.

Tonight was one of the worst dining experiences of my life.
After a lovely 36 year wedding anniversary day with my wife, my expectation was to have rounded it off perfectly by having a lovely meal in idyllic surroundings, so I booked the Old Swan for dinner, having stayed and eaten there previously.
The pub had been left in the hands of a couple of young lads and a gentleman who reminded me of the BFG, aimiable but with little idea of what was going on, or what was available. It was like Fawlty Towers or worse.
To start, my wife was served a gin and tonic with no gin and she had to go to the bar and complain. My Bloody Mary was also without taste of any hint of Worcester sauce or Tabasco, salt or pepper, but with enough ice to have sunk the Titanic.
Our meals offered more disasters to come.
My heritage tomato salad consisted of a few raw hard pieces of different tomatoes floundering in a flavourless runny liquid that was supposed to be pesto.
My lamb pie looked as though it had come from a local supermarket. The edges around the top were a burnt ring, as a result of being put under a grill to heat up? The minimal serving of vegetables were beyond al dente. They were stringy and undercooked and an indistinguishable mess on the plate. The chips were rock hard and almost inedible, as though they had come from a freezer and been hardly cooked, given that they were so hard and cold in the middle.
My wife's steak was surrounded by inedible fat and largely unmemorable and as she put it, certainly not a £34 one, more like £19 at a push.
Our bill was over £80. We could have eaten better at McDonald's at a fraction of the price.
Given all of the above, it was not surprising that we were the only diners; those in the know stayed away.
The rather untidy young lad that I paid at the end deducted the service charge at my request without hesitation, agreeing with me that it was the worst night to have come, with an agency chef on duty, as the resident chef was off sick. He didn't seem surprised when I suggested the relief chef went back to catering college; my 12 year old grandson could have unquestionably prepared a better meal.
A perfect day with my wife enjoying the Cotswolds in glorious sunshine derailed by a 'meal' best forgotten.

Lovely location on the edge of the village, across the road to the river and the Old Mill. Stunning old building with heaps of character. Friendly staff, only stopped for a drink, food menu looked good though.

Went for pie and pint but not available. Soup was tasteless. Cheese board very small and all very expensive. Service shocking. Will not be back.

Beautiful location and could be such a lovely pub however we received very poor service by one individual in particular who was very rude and not at all welcoming.
Food was very nice although service was slow.
Our experience was made better by another member of staff!

Dry, plain burgers. The best food was the chips.
Child-friendly. Beautiful garden. Lovely children?s mini playground behind the garden.
Tables and chairs in the garden are dirty.
Would not recommend for food, but worth a visit for a drink in the shade. If this is the village?s go-to pub, something tells me locals don?t go there for food.
One final note: you wouldn?t know, but the food took ages to arrive.

I booked this for me and my partner without reading any reviews the week before going to visit the Farmer?s Dog for food. As we were heading there for our 1 night stay I decided to check the reviews and had seen a bunch of negative ones? obviously made me fairly nervous. Having got there we were greeted by friendly staff and were shocked by the picturesque setting of this astonishing place. I couldn?t be more happy with our room and service. Though people complained previously about wifi ours seemed to be ok in our room throughout the duration but this wouldn?t have bothered us either way. We actually really hoped to extend our stay but due to work needing a stable wifi for an important assessment we could not. Amazing stay and will be coming back!!!

Disappointing Stay ? Health and Safety Concerns
We were initially impressed by the beautiful grounds of the property, but unfortunately, our overall experience fell far short of expectations.
The room we stayed in was extremely warm and had no air conditioning. We were advised to leave the window open for ventilation, but being on the ground floor, I didn?t feel safe doing so?anyone could have easily climbed in. I requested to move to another room but was told there was no availability, without any apparent effort to check the system.
Our experience with the dining was even more concerning. At breakfast at the Old Swan, we were served cold and undercooked eggs. After asking for fresh ones, we received another plate?only for the eggs to still be cold. My partner, who was very hungry and tired of waiting, ate what was served. This ended up being the only meal he had that day.
Tragically, later that day, he developed a fever and severe stomach cramps. It is now Monday 8 DAYS LATER and he still cannot eat or keep down any fluids. He has been unable to work, a trip to A&E, IV fluids due to food poisoning from the breakfast.
I have already contacted the hotel directly to raise this issue and urge them to investigate the food immediately?I would not wish this experience on anyone else.
I would greatly appreciate it if someone from management followed up with me regarding this serious matter.

I?ve known the Old Swan for over 25 years and have always rated it very highly. Today was the first time back for 5 years. What a difference! The place is squalid, the staff disheartened and unenthusiastic, the terrace is filthy and many of the tables broken. The food is expensive and of poor quality, certainly not living up to the descriptions on the menu. To see such a beautiful and historic pub restaurant bought to its knees in such a short time is truly sad. Having looked at other reviews (sadly not prior to our visit) I can see that many of the problems I have seen today have been bought up over and over by previous visitors. Clearly the owners / managers don?t care.

Poorly cooked bland food that costs the earth!
Appalling menu choices?limited vegetarian options and no options for vegans whatsoever!
Extremely rude surly slovenly staff!
This place could not careless about its customers!
The only thing going for it is the location and building!
Avoid at all costs!

We had to change rooms, as the one we were booked in smelt dreadful (drains), the corridor outside smelt damp and the blanket at the end of the bed was dirty. Checking in was slow and tedious. On a lovely sunny Friday afternoon, there was one person manning the bar, resulting in a half hour wait for drinks. Avoid this place.

Unbelievably slow service
Overpriced salmon starter, tasty but meagre for the price
