I walked in with broken sunglasses I bought there years ago, and they fixed it, no charge. A little screw was broken, making this a tricky and time-consuming problem, put the friendly staff persisted nonetheless. Top makes for customer service, and sustainability, making broken things work again rather than going into landfill.

Excellent service from Ali and his team!...I have had several pairs of glasses from the Wallingford branch of Boots and their service levels are beyond compare within the organisation! Most recently I saw a pair online that I loved and had been recently withdrawn from sale and Ali managed to track a pair down,an effort which involved much time and effort on his part..a level of service that is sadly lacking in these troubled times.I would definitely recommend this branch to any older person who still appreciates this level of attention ...Jim Reading

I came in on two occasions to get an eye test and look at glasses. The support I had looking at glasses on both occasions was brilliant. They were very patient and knowledgeable about which styles would suit me best, and helped make the process more easefuland fun. They also had a really good selection to choose from!

If you value your eyesight then I strongly suggest you stay well away, the optometrist who did my last prescription there for some still unknown reason decided to change my astigmatism prescription but didn't tell me she had, when I say adjust I mean nearly 70% different from my normal setting, I suffered for a few months but the eye strain was so bad I went back and was told the fault was with me and not them, I was then sent to the JR's eye clinic, I had to wait several months before the appointment date came round and the eye specialist there immediately found the error which was surprise surprise the astigmatism prescription was miles out, he subsequently wrote to the Wallingford optometrist informing her of her error, but again the fault I was assured was with me, but now needed reading glasses, so on top of the £450 I'd spent on two new useless pairs of specs I shelled out a further £200 for a pair of reading classes but things didn't get any better so in the end I had no choice but to go back yet again as the eye and face pain was awful, by now this had gone on for nearly 9 months months and the eye strain was so bad I had a permanent headache and felt sick all the time, however this time round I was called an awkward customer and they still refused to adjust the astigmatism prescription, at this point in time I gave up and went to Frost Borneo in Henley who were brilliant, things have been fine since I did (now there's a thing!), I guess I should have demanded my money back and some form of compensation for all the pain and messing about I'd had to endure but I then became seriously ill with cancer so I didn't have the strength to argue with them so I wrote over £600's worth of glasses off and coughed up even more for the prescription I now have but at least I can see and have no eye pain and headaches anymore!.

Called to make an appointment and they said I would have to wait 3 weeks. When I replied that it was a bit too far in the future they hang up on me. I won't go there then and reading the other review, it's just as well!

Staff didn't seem to care that I was in the opticians, just responding to what I said with one word answers. The waiting area is incredibly small, consisting of about four chairs crammed into a small corner, such that your knees are almost touching the person's sat across from you. They seemed to be running very late, which combined with the atmosphere of the place, which seemed almost hospital like, and attitude of the staff, meant I did not feel able to stay in there long enough to have my eyes tested.
