We popped up from our mooring on the canal nearby looking for a meal and were not disappointed. The menu was quite small, but food was freshly cooked and very nice pub fare.
Service was great and the place was buzzing with locals in for a chat/drink/meal (it was a Friday evening). Outside space as well as indoors.
A good and friendly local, nothing fancy but I wasn't looking for fancy so suited us very well.

What a delightful pub. Good beer. Friendly locals and lovely staff. Went out of their way to sort food for us on a night the kitchen wasn't open and we were incredibly grateful. Also glad the route back to the canal is downhill!

Very good pub. Great beer. No food, but the very kind staff offered to do us scampi and chips. Superb chips, thank you!

Could not have asked for a worse experience from a pub owner and landlord for many years.
This pub used to be a focus point for the village. Today, I felt afraid to walk in.
Those fears were justified.
The thoughts of frank and open conversation in this pub are very much dead, and this landlord has made it so.
This is not somewhere you would visit when the Sainsbury's less than a mile up the road does much better service and for 1/3 of the price for food and alcohol.
It's not a good pub and it's not a good atmosphere.

Pretty typical English country village pub, complete with stern looking landlord (turned out to be perfectly nice), and homemade pork scratchings. Beer selection good.
Really pleased to have seen the folk night which is apparently the second Monday of every month - everyone welcome to join in singing popular folk songs and a core of decent folk musicians.

Having left the M40 with the intention of finding a pub for my Sunday lunch rather than stopping at yet another indistinguishably mediocre 'Services' I was relieved to find the Barley Mow in Upper Heyford as the previous 2 pubs had been permanently closed ! I was even more relieved to learn that, as a solo diner, I should actually be able to have lunch ! As a pre-booked only service ad hoc arrivals would normally be turned away ! I was offered a choice of a beef or a pork roast meal and chose the pork and was provided with a generous portion of pork with a Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, carrots, cabbage and cauliflower with gravy, stuff in and apple sauce. As expected, a marked improvement on Motorway 'Services.' Surprisingly neither coffee nor tea are served but fortunately I was very happy with water. Thank you !Wheelchair accessibility: The path from the car park to the bar was accessible to me on crutches but would be quite difficult for a wheelchair user though I suspect that entry through the street entrance would possible.

Great landlady. Knows how to generate a good lucrative and fun atmosphere. Typical country type pub guests, friendly and respectable.
