I had a recent eye test and the lady that carried it out was very personable. She took her time to explain the whole process and she was very patient. I haven't had an eye test in 10+ years so I am grateful that it was a positive experience. Thank you

For a long time myself and my family were happy with the service and the glasses supplied by Robert Stanley then Bayfields took over and things changed for me.I now have a pair of reading glasses that I don't feel are quite right and have not done since I bought them late last year. After continuing to try to come to terms with them for short periods on an occasional basis I recently alerted the shop to this fact. I was told that my complaint is out of time and gleaned that there was little prospect of a refund.The fit of the glasses was not the problem as a member of staff spent some time on that aspect when I initially collected the glasses. Incidentally he told me he had come down from scotland to help out with staff shortages at the time. I think I have contributed towards his fuel and perhaps accommodation bill. I also believe that the lenses were as perscribed by the optician that carried out my examination because the manager assured me of the infinite checks that are made in this regard.The Bayfield website states, 'we warrant that any product purchased is of satisfactory quality' (and presumably fit for purpose). it also refers to Bayfield 'delivering obsessively great service' with 'great after care'. Not quite my experience I have to report.I am several hundred pounds down, disappointed, I feel fobbed off and upset - not so much with the staff who are nice enough but the company ethos which isn't actually as stated in the above quotes and in so far as it affected me. Having said that, the staff don't appear to be over endowed by a 'how can i assist or sort this out' attitude but are instead inclined to argue one down. I can remember Robert Stanley going beyond the call of duty to help out but that is no more it seems.

Really excellent care from a very professional team. In particular the optician took great care regarding a condition I have in one of my eyes. I have used a few different opticians, and none have shown the same concern, or given such good advice as Robert Stanley.

I visited Robert Stanley this week just to get some glasses (from another opticians) adjusted. They were really helpful and welcoming, and sorted out my glasses with great knowledge and professionalism. A very positive experience.

I am very unhappy with Robert Stanley. Unfortunately my optician has retired.I was given a scan and not told beforehand it will cost £20.Also told Robert Stanley only make referral to JR hospital in Oxford. I wanted the first referral in Stoke Mandeville Hospital where my consultant is and has already operated on one eye.Eventually referral sent after I have an appointment at JR. to my doctor and Stoke Mandeville HospitalSince then have been told by optician which I saw doesn't want to see. I can see resident optician on the day.

Arrived on time for prearranged appointment at the beginning of March to be kept waiting while staff turned up late, OK no worries.Then told that I do not have an appointment by gentlemen at reception apologies offered but no response or offer to reappont.After years of recommending this opticians to others and my family using we shall all be moving elsewhere.Most disappointing that a trusted local business is happy to lose customers and has not tried to contact.I can now understand why we have new competitors setting up in Thame.From speaking to others I now know that I am not alone in having experienced a less than satisfactory service from this once fine business.
