This is the original pub owned by Hook Norton Brewery. Named after a pear tree growing up the wall. The second pear tree was planted in the 1960s. Hence two pear trees today. The beer as you would expect is top notch. Expected it to be a flagship establishment as the original Hook Norton Brewery pub especially with its location close to the brewery, but it's not.

An atmospheric pub serving as the Hook Norton Brewery tap. Good beer always in great condition. Lovely large secure beer garden and good pub food.

We stayed here for one night due to attending the brewery tour nearby. We were put in room 3 which I believe is the family room/ two separate bedrooms within the room. Newly decorated with some nice decor. Staff made us feel very welcome when we went down for some drinks. Very friendly local pub in the heart of this Oxfordshire village.

Lock-in kept us awake until 2am despite 4 visits to the bar to ask them to end their evening. Mice in 2 of the bedrooms. One large towel for 2 people. Only one mug for 2 people. Expensive, no breakfast. The only good thing was clean sheets. No one around in the morning to complain to. It?s badly run and a dump.
