Went into Botley store and went to the counter what sells lottery. As I was paying cash . The person was such a miserable man. No hello or thanks He had the attitude hurry up and go . He needs training on customer service.and perhaps a smile .

We grabbed snacks and drinks for an overnight in Oxford and restocked on a few essentials that were running low. Clean store, but coffee bar and cafe area were quite messy.

Disappointing jobsworth attitude from staff like a return to the 1970s. I needed a price for something at the tobacco/small goods counter. The guy who was doing diddly squat at the time seemed decidedly put out about it. When I came back with another item for a price (there was no price ticket), he actually told me off and refused to help, saying something about the workload to cancel the transaction afterwards. Poor darling, I hope he gets some support for the hardship. Then at another counter the... team member(?)... told me off for handing him cash instead of putting it down on the counter. They have rules, apparently - probably dating from the 12th century about leprosy. Made me lift ALL my heavy goods out of the trolley to scan even though they were in multiples. Good thing I'm not a frail old lady. As I was leaving, the tobacco counter guy was still standing around doing literally nothing. Imagine that - getting told off three times for shopping. No wonder the place was empty. I know I've been away a few years, but exactly WHEN did Britain get so officious, hostile and controlling?
