Ceremonial clothing rental in Oxford is a scam in the true sense of the word. Shepherd and Woodward, Walters, etc have a captured market and collude on prices. It is criminal to charge £110 to rent some acrylic cloth for a few hours.

I walked into the Shepherd & Woodward on High Street, looking for a travel-sized shoe horn. The store had several available, but none were exactly what I was looking for. I was about to leave, disappointed, when one of the gentlemen working at the store (I apologize, but I didn't get his name) gave me one of the horns they often receive with certain shoe brands. I offered to pay for it, but he only smiled and wished me a good day. It's an amazing shoe horn, better than any in my collection back home, and a great memory of our time at Oxford and the kindness of Shepherd & Woodward's staff. Thank you!

We rented a white tie from here for a ball and we had a fantastic experience. They took our measurements and our suit was available a fee days after. Returning was fine.

Great store with tons of really cool clothing items. I went in interested in a Barbour jacket and Kelly who works there was the absolute best! Not only was she such a kind person but she was also personable and extremely helpful! She knew so much about all the different styles, gave great feedback on the looks, and was beyond helpful! If I could buy my entire wardrobe from her I absolutely would!!

Excellent service the way it should be. I visited Oxford to meet with friends and coincidentally came across this shop which sold Barbour. I thought I?d pop in. The shop had an excellent selection but what set them apart were the staff. I was after a style that Barbour it seems no longer makes, but they showed me the other options and I was able to try on many jackets to confirm fit and sizing. Although these ultimately didn?t meet my needs, they took my details and a week later forwarded me a response they had had from Barbour. That confirmed the style I wanted wasn?t being made anymore - Barbour?s suggested alternatives having already been shown in the shop. They knew I wasn?t from Oxford but that didn?t matter - the customer service was what was important here. I?d travel to come here again (and they sell more than just Barbour). Keep up the good work, this service is sorely missing in most outfitters where if they don?t have something they?re simply not interested.

Great store, but one of the sales clerks made it her mission in life to creepily follow us around the store. Not saying a word, or offering help, just watching us as if she suspected us of shoplifting. Definitely took the fun out of wanting to spend money there.
