I pop in here occasionally to get a few supplies for our log burner, and also any small building projects. The lady in the shop is exceptionally helpful and always very friendly. The shop is well stocked with lots of useful items, well worth a visit. The building materials in the yard are also competitively priced. It's easy to park, and staff in the yard are always helpful and on hand to help load up materials.

I recently ordered shingle (gravel) and MOT Type 1 from them and had a really poor experience. Before ordering I called up their office to enquire if the shingle was washed, which they assured me it was. This was important to us, as we wanted to use it for drainage, so having a lot of fine particles with it would defeat that purpose somewhat. Upon arrival the shingle is evidently not washed and all I got from calling back and enquiring was a grumpy reply saying "we buy it washed from the quarry", which does not help me at all. If their supplier is selling them the wrong product it does not give them the right to sell it on under false pretences. At least I thought the MOT Type1 looked good in the bags. Fast-forward a few weeks and we have finally put it down, and while the top of the bags looked good quality, they were so unevenly filled that we have a load of very fine particles and barely any of the larger components of the MOT Type 1. I will definitively not buy from here again. Shame, I was hoping to support a small local business, but the quality I got from Jewsons was much better.The photos show: the pale shingle from A W Mobbs, next to the colourful washed shingle from Jewsons, they should both look the same-ish, the pale colour is due to the residue of small particles that haven't been washed. The photo of the MOT Type1 shows how uneven the size distribution is, and how little of the larger sizes was present.

Communication leaves a lot to be desired with MOBBS. Ordered 6 sleepers which was very easy on the website. Received confirmation of order which is great, but then silence. No deliver update giving estimated date. Then 7:30 today, door bell goes and the deliver is here. Suppose its just as well I hadn?t left for work!I think they should take a leaf out of the big building suppliers notebook and email estimated delivery date and the contact customer via email and text day before with a time window of delivery. This would allow preparation for delivery, especially if its large items etc, and make sure you?re around to meet delivery..

Pretty poor experience. Lady in showroom made it seem like a chore to serve me. Told me to go ask someone in the yard where there appeared to be no staff whatsoever. Probably a small order to them but missed out on best part of a 6k order down to lack of customer service. I'll spend my money where they appreciate it. Very disappointed and will be using AVS in Aylesbury for all my other requirements
