Came in yesterday for a couple drinks and a bite to eat with a friend who lives locally. Atmosphere was really lively, food - especially the pizza - and service were spot on. Would go back in a heartbeat!

Just had an amazing evening at The Waggon and Horses. Traditional pub food at historic pub prices. Fish was deliciously moist and the pie was a real pie, pastry top and bottom (oh and too cheap at only £12). Really wonderful welcome by Dawn and Jesse. Will be back soon.

We turned up on a Sunday lunch time on the off chance of getting a roast. The pub was busy but they fitted us in. We weren't disappointed!
The roast was cooked to perfection. Delicious gravy, tender meat, crunchy/crispy roast potatoes and the best yorkies!
Service was great with a lovely welcoming atmosphere. Will definitely be back to try the rest of the menu!

A Lunch to Forget
We were looking forward to a comforting, homemade chicken and mushroom pie, but what arrived was a sorry excuse for one. The filling consisted of dry, chewy chicken floating in a bland, watery sauce?so thin it could have been a failed attempt at soup. As for the mushrooms? Missing in action. It felt less like a pie and more like someone had ladled out some leftover liquid and hastily thrown a pastry lid on top as an afterthought.
Then came the coffee. A cappuccino should be rich, smooth, and topped with a velvety froth. Instead, we were served a bitter, watery concoction that tasted like it had been stewing in a forgotten pot all day. The froth? It had fled the scene in terror before it even reached the table.
All in all, a thoroughly disappointing meal that left us wondering if the kitchen had simply given up.

Having lived in the village for 10 years we have seen many iterations of the waggon and indeed the pub offering locally in general. From three pubs down to one. From a waggon that was great at fish and chips and sport but not a lot else to a time when the specials and the steaks were incredible and a fab Sunday lunch could be had to take away. Then came the dark days of no food and almost closure to a time when maybe actually it was better when there was no food at all... Plus of course Smurf gate...
Having seen a fabulous looking specials board with seasonal well priced produce when in at Christmas , the launch of the new menu and the news that Sunday lunches were returning we were tempted back in for burger night. Two for the price of one. A roaring fire and warm welcome with some good service. Food took about 25 mins but was well worth the wait and could not grumble at £16 the pair. Two excellent pub burgers with chips to accompany. Could not fault the food and keen to return and sample more of what's on offer.. Whisper it quietly but the waggon seems on the way back

Popped in at the half way leg of our journey. Great local atmosphere, well decorated space, where we enjoyed our drinks and a game of pool to music.

Nice historic pub building, but sadly lacking any atmosphere at all inside. Average quality beer, poor lighting and some loud generic music in the background.
