Fantastic food, range of drinks, and service. Went out of their way to accommodate us at very late notice. Thanks so much!

Brilliant local pub. Turned up with seven children, who they went out of their way to accommodate. Food great. Good value. Lovely landlord. Strongly recommend.

Anthony is a credit to this pub. He?s not only charming and interesting but he?s also someone with a clear sense of community and what?s right. He rescued my mother and I from freezing outside as our car had broken down. Without his sense of hospitality we would have been a bit erm Donald ducked. Thank you Anthony & William xxx

Really lovely quintessential English pub. A craft beer choice alongside usual ale selection was very much welcomed

Excellent, cosy, quintessential village pub serving good food, excellent range of drinks all enhanced by a log fire. Landlord and staff all super-friendly. A must visit.

Great village pub, with a warm, cozy and friendly atmosphere. Anthony and his team go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome.
Amazingly for a character old school village pub, The Blue Boar is very wheelchair friendly. Wheelchair access is at the rear, with an gradual ramped pathway and a wide door, making access stressfree.
There's great ale on tap, typically Loose Canon Abingdon Bridge and Hook Norton Old Hooky, both excellent. there?s also a vast selection of gins!
The pop-up restaurant nights offer delicious fair and are very popular, so it?s wise to book a early if you want a table.

Barely operational. Expensive. Not worth a visit

I grew up in the local area and have been coming to The Blue Boar for well over 20 years. I?ve seen it change hands about three times and it?s maintained its charm, character, good beers and good food throughout. We booked and pre-ordered food for a group of 20 the day after my wedding. Anthony was extremely helpful, kind and easygoing from beginning to end. Kept the kitchen open later for the large group, and the pre-order was organised very smoothly. Thanks for a great post-wedding experience and for keeping the pub a mainstay for the villages ?
I?d recommend the circular walk along the Thames between Hinton Waldrist and Longworth and using the Blue Boar as a pit stop on the way! It?s beautiful.

Great food, great service and a children?s playground which came in handy
Kid-friendliness: There?s a children?s playground in the garden designed for kids under 10 - kept the kids entertained while we were there

Good food, friendly staff and good service. Unfortunately, spoilt by the small group of loud 'lads' who thought it fine to use the f word every sentence. One was also openly vaping in the bar. Staff are obviously putting up with this but we don't have to so we probably won't return.

This is the best pub ever. Warm and welcoming atmosphere ? Landlord is friendly. This is a gem to visit with all the locals that are relaxed and super friendly at all times. ??
