The new manager Elliot is all about making money and nothing about the personal aspect of running a pub. This is my local pub. I'm in there all the time. Booked a very specific table in the front part of the pub ages in advance for my 40th, turned up, and found the table had not been reserved for me, and my mates and I had instead been put in the back part, what I call the "leper colony" (no atmosphere whatsoever), right by the toilets - for my 40th birthday!!! Would have been okay-ish if it hadn?t happened three more times again. You get promised a table in the front bar and then relegated to the ?restaurant? area (oh, please) with no notice at all. I'm just sick of being treated like a second-class citizen. Elliot has no respect and zero appreciation for the human side of running a pub. After the fourth time, I gave him a piece of my mind because there are really only so many times you can be let down. I?m going to find myself another local (happily, Henley has lots of pubs) and Elliot can - quite honestly - do one. If I could give zero stars, I would.
Response: YOU took the booking for my 40th, Elliot - it was YOU. I spoke to you and asked for that table in the front - you "reserved it" for me, and you put me by the toilets instead. On my 40th birthday. My 40th. I'm sorry you did not value me as much as your other customers. I also wish you all the best and hope you can learn a lesson from this, at least.

Not very welcoming. Kitchen not open yet so we didn't order food. Landlord was more interested in looking at his laptop!

Friendly staff, good beer, clean pipes and as someone relatively new to the area I found the locals welcoming and friendly too, a good place for a pint and a chat

A wonderful friendly pub Wes and Theresa and staff do a wonderful job to make all welcome. Great food and great events ? had some lovely nights at the anchor Inn including my sons 21st.

We went in here for an end of bay pint it's a nice pud with a good-sized garden. Friendly staff it's a lit bigger in the inside than it looks from the outside it's an ideal place for a business meeting or just a drink with friends

Beautiful old pub, lots of quirky features and decorations. The pub is a stones throw from the river and has a lovely walled garden in the rear. Great selection of local beers and wines, didn't eat but the food that was being served looked and smelt amazing. The landlord and lady were very friendly and accommodating.Would thoroughly recommend for a drink or a bite to eat if in the area
