Lovely roast. The best in Henley. Especially good value for money.

A Thursday in December, Market day in Henley. Fine they don't open until 4pm, but odd. The door was open at 3.55, we walked in and were told sorry we don't open until 4 and not invited to sit down and so left - they say hospitality is struggling, is it any wonder.... We took our significant food / drink spend down the road.

Lovely pub off the beaten track
Very difficult parking so used long stay which cost us £10.00
Basic rooms a little pricey at £95 with no breakfast
Our room was very cold - lovely warm pub and landing so noticed it even more.
Perhaps having the radiator on, on arrival would help + took until we were leaving the next day to warm up

Disappointed to only see one cask ale on tap, but the Brakespear Gravity was unusually good. Great cellaring and pouring.

Best Sunday roast around, no doubt ? and fantastic service to boot ?

Was here with my uncle for Sunday Roast. It was good, more of a homemade style Sunday roast than like what famous Sunday roast places serve. Serving was generous. The outdoor area where our table is might need a bit of cleaning as there were loads of cobwebs around. Overall, it is a good pub with homemade food.

View from room 3 on 1st floor. Parking outside is difficult but can find on street parking up the road.

Excellent sunday roast - tasty and great value. Veggie option a bonus. Definitely need to book in advance...
Food and drinks: Breakspears beer and decent wine. Food simple but they use fresh ingredients and care to provide a full flavour. The pies are great.

Just off the beaten track, a lovely ?proper? pub with great service. My only negative would be I was hoping for a better choice of cask ales but they have plenty of other beer. Guess they?re serving what sells.Perfect pub if you want to avoid the crowds and tourists coming in off the river.NB. It was a certain Mr Harrison?s local and supposedly was occasionally seen enjoying their hospitality

We were in Henley for the weekend, so found this pub when exploring the town. It is out the way, up the hill behind the town hall, but such a welcoming atmosphere when we entered. The barman was friendly and the cosiness was so welcoming. A local was very positive of the pub and this showed in the coming and going of other patrons. We didn't have food or accommodation, but felt very comfortable just having drinks and chatting. Long live these traditional aspects of the pub trade.Walkability: Near to town centre.

Superb little pub.... had a great night and made to feel welcome by the locals.... OK so England did beat Wales in 6 Nations but very welcoming before that ?
