Did not eat, lovely atmosphere during Cropredy Festival

The best pub in town, a short walk to the canal and some very good beer. Free good quality live music during the festival.

£9 for a pint and a packet of nuts
£6 for the pint, £1 for a plastic cup, and £2 for a packet of salted nuts which cost 60p on eBay, a 240% markup.
Real ales: Butcombe bitter, Purity Ubu, and Black Sheep Blonde.
If you bring a measured glass, you can avoid the plastic cup. Apparently tankards aren't acceptable. I didn't test this out.
Other drinkers who were complaining were told 'the landlord doesn't care'.
Back garden is tarmac, concrete and cars.
The kitchen is closed until further notice.

Refused to fill my pint to the measure lined when I politely asked for it to be topped up! Don't think that has happened in any pub anywhere in the history of time? Extremely rude and petty, but saved them 60ml of beer perhaps...

Awful pub in dire need of a refurb. Went there as a newbie ( though I am a returner to the area after many years), and though I love nostalgia this pub has not changed at all and not for the better. I will not be returning.

This could be a great little pub but it was dirty, the tables were sticky, my phone actually stuck to the table.
Beer was good.
Don't expect food at the advertised times though, it seems they do food when they feel like it.

Passing locally on a narrowboat. Nice bar, beers and staff. Small outdoor area at the rear.

Nestled in the charming village of Cropredy, opposite the parish churchyard, The Red Lion, a pub since Elizabethan times. It's also situated quite close to the Oxford Canal.
The Red Lion offers a truly delightful pub experience. From the moment you step in, you're greeted by friendly staff who make you feel right at home. The selection of drinks is impressive, with a fantastic range of great ales and lagers to suit all tastes. What's more, you'll find the prices to be very reasonable, making it an affordable treat. The pub itself is wonderfully clean and tidy, creating a welcoming atmosphere. And on a sunny day, their inviting beer garden is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy your drink. The Red Lion is a gem in Cropredy. Highly recommended!

Ate and drank here while chugging on the Oxford Canal. Definitely now in my top 5 canal village pubs! It?s a proper pub, not a restaurant posing as a pub, with great food as well as beer. Menu is short but as Gordon Ramsay used to say, better a short menu done well than a long one done badly! We had whitebait (fantastic) to start then scampi & bean chili respectively. Butcombe Original was superb.
