My wife and I decided to stay the night at a ?local? pub/hotel as we were visiting the RIAT 2025 air show and it was a 2.5hr drive away from our home, so we decided to travel down the night before.
The Eagle Tavern looked like it fitted the bill for a quick stay over, cosy, very English, in the Cotswolds. What could be better as a great starting point for our planned outing.
WRONG . . . . . . . The cost of a ?room-only? stay had been inflated to £142 for the night, (due to the air show), a bit pricey, but I wanted to give my wife and I an easy early start to our planned day trip, so I reluctantly paid it, in the interests of ?planning for a good day?.
Oh dear! The room was very dated, the layout of the room was very questionable, the mattress was absolutely, (pardon my French), ?shagged? !! It was the worst nights ?sleep? my wife and I had ever had!!
We got up earlier than we really wanted to, made a cup of tea, (in the outdated kettle etc), and because we weren?t having breakfast, we decided just to have the complimentary biscuits that accompanied the tea making facilities.
Two out of the four were SOFT!! Heaven knows how long they had been in the room.
Not a good experience, they need to update the rooms, update the fittings, replace the mattresses and remove unnecessary furniture, i.e. the ?casting couch?.
Not happy.

Stayed one night in a twin room. It might not be the flashiest hotel but it?s comfy and clean. We didn?t stay for breakfast (rather wish we had reading the reviews) but the hotel seemed quiet and when we got back from the wedding we attended at 10pm the place had closed up for the night which surprised us. It could do with a slight bit of TLC externally but flowers are a nice touch.
That said I wouldn?t put anyone off and I would 100% return. Very peaceful nights sleep and comfortable bed too.

Interesting twist to the dishes in this place. We had the creme brulee savoury starter, possibly not fully our thing, but nice to see something different being tried. Salmon was both generously sized and perfectly cooked, I had the duck, again, it was well cooked and delicious. A theme around this part of the world is nice buildings to eat in, this was no exception.

We just went to have dinner at the Eagle Tavern and the food was great with a very cosy atmosphere and friendly staff. I highly recommend it

The four of us had a lovely dinner here tonight. The tavern is quiet and classy. The service is professional and friendly. The food (lamb, salmon, chicken, blue cheese brulee) was all excellent. Nice wine list, and prices are very reasonable. So glad to have dinner here and would absolutely recommend.

Tonight we're doing blue cheese brulé. Inspired by a fab meal we had here a while back. Food service and everything was pretty much perfect...

Another stunning gem and in food heaven again. High-quality restaurant food in a pub the true meaning of a gastro pub. Very friendly staff and the atmosphere is wonderful and even with all the tables full you could hear yourself talk. The decor reminds me of a Vincent Van Gogh, but you will see when you visit this amazing gold mine.

We have absolutely no complaints re the service and facilities other than the slippery bath as a shower.. could be rectified with a rubber mat( especially for the more elderly guests)
Bedroom? spacious, spotless and comfy!
We had an evening meal which was utterly divine?
The starter of cheese brûlée was highly original and delicious; followed by venison with the most sensational sauce( jus!).
Dessert finished things off wonderfully with a
Apple and blackberry crumble cake!
Mark our waiter was most attentive.
Two breakfasts were of the continental variety with plenty of fresh fruit; muesli; yoghurt; cheese; ham and a lot of fresh toast to include brioche!
Full English was on offer but we were having lunch later so opted for the healthier course
Maybe a cheese board could have added that extra dessert option
The chef ( possibly owner) Marcel who hails from Slovakia was charming and clearly a most competent chef.

I mean?WOW although the menu looks basic, food was amazing, very fresh, and very good quality.
I ordered the lamb and I have never tasted the lamb so tender, and my partner ordered the steak, and he loved it.
This is gonna be my favourite place for now so far!!
Only one FOH staff for the whole evening, and he was very friendly, managed everything very well, very impressed he has done everything himself no matter how busy is it.

A beautiful quaint little pub in a lovely quiet village. I only popped in for a quick pint, however, it looks like a lovely restaurant.
