I had a very disappointing experience at the Didcot branch of Lloyd?s Bank. After driving an hour round trip, I arrived 30 minutes before closing, only to be bluntly turned away. The staff refused to assist me with opening a bank account, telling me to ?just do it online? without offering any help or guidance. It felt like they simply couldn?t be bothered. I mean, what if I were 80 years old and unfamiliar with technology? This complete lack of service is unacceptable.
Thankfully, the Oxford (High Street) branch was a completely different story. A kind banker immediately sat with me, walked me through the entire online application, and answered all my questions patiently. I have moved here from another country, so my situation was more complex. He was so helpful. When I mentioned my experience at Didcot to another one of the employees there as I was leaving, they said they regularly get customers redirected from that location, which says a lot.
You can technically apply by yourself online, but staff are still supposed to support customers through the process. It?s frustrating and disappointing that Didcot chose to turn away a new customer rather than provide basic assistance.

Deposited more coin bags than they usually permit, they accepted them because I was only 3 bags over. I was unaware of the bag limit. Very pleasant assistant.

I went into Lloyds Bank to pay some money into my account where I couldn't pay into Halifax because my card would not work in the reader and they would not accept any other proof of ID that wasn't physically in my hand! I was told quite smuggly, that it was a government rule that was brought out in November 2019 and I couldn't pay in there with physical ID. So I went in to lloyds and spoke with the manager and told him what happened at Halifax and he was quite surprised he didn't really know what to say I think it was the first he had heard of it. Anyway I was able to pay into my account in lloyds no problem at all. The manager and his staff were very friendly and polite and I will be using lloyds for my future banking.

Pity they are not open and wont say when they will be. How am I supposed to bank cheques. and run a business. Can't drive there every day on the hope they may be open. Don't wast time calling their number on the web either, you get someone even more useless in Wales. Unbelievable
