I have always donated to this shop as my son has congenital heart disease and underwent open heart surgery as a baby.
I visited today to make a donation. I checked online before leaving and it said the store was open until 5pm. I arrived at 4.28pm (I checked my watch) and the doors were locked, the sign on the door said they were open until 4.30pm. I knocked on the door as there was a young man the other side and explained I'd walked to town from Harwell and just wanted to make a donation. The lady at the till told him, 'No, we are shut, don't unlock the door.' The young man looked embarrassed and said sorry.
Come on guys, this is a really poor show and judging by earlier reviews this seems to be the same member of staff.
I have fond memories of going in to this shop when my son was small and sharing his story, he is now about to turn sixteen. It seems the lovely, kind staff who had genuine empathy we previously encountered have moved on.
I walked up to Cancer Research and they gratefully received my donation. I will be donating to them solely in future. They are also a charity very dear to my family.

I found the people collecting the items to be quite cold and rude. Not a thank you or anything. I?ll probably go elsewhere when donating next time.

Really rude, mean woman working at the desk. She started to refuse our clothes donation without even looking at what we brought because apparently there was no space and some other excuses, and then when we said that?s okay we can just go to cancer research uk a few steps away, she backtracked and accepted the items. We went to drop it off in the area and guess what, loads of space! She just wanted to be rude.

Lady in walker was extremely rude. They make donations seem like a crime. Will be selling or donating elsewhere next time.

I found staff a bit brusque. ?We?re not taking stuff from young ones but I?ll take them from you cos you?re a pensioner?. I do have a pension but I also work and I?m in excellent health - this didn?t do much good for my self esteem. A bit brutal.

Completely different experience to what other reviews have reported. I've donated twice in the last few weeks, items from my mum who died recently, both times the staff were helpful, efficient, knowledgeable and polite. Today the lady on the counter was most obliging, checking in some jewellery and watches, for which there was a lovely display already just by the counter. Other stock in the shop looked good quality, organised and attractive. I would encourage all Didcot shoppers to take a look!

Staff member was rude and unhelpful when we went in to donate today. Manners / being pleasant costs nothing. Disappointing experience.

The woman behind the counter is extremely rude and discriminatory. I've been there twice and each time she treated me like I have come there to steal. She always has this disdainful look. Meanwhile, I shop in other charity shops on the same street every week and everyone is well mannered.

The most appalling experience we've ever had when donating goods to a charity shop. My husband, who uses an NHS walking stick after having had a triple heart bypass operation, was helping me carry the goods to the store. We carried between us (a long distance due to lack of parking near the shop) a VERY heavy and very large bag of quality (many new) clothes and other goods. The woman behind the counter said the shop had too many goods already and had nowhere to put our donation. We asked if we could leave them in a corner of the shop and were told we could not do so as it would be 'a health hazard.' We asked if we could leave them in the back room and were told we were not allowed in there. Her colleague entered the shop and 'allowed' us to dump our donation on the very grubby floor of the back room (we needed to retain our bag), hardly an appropriate place for clean clothes. The rudeness and disinterest beggared belief. We have supported the BHF for many, many years. Never again, in any form, will we donate to this charity and we will actively avoid going into any of their charity shops.Cathryn A Sinclair (Dr.)

Disgusted with attitude of staff. Had a large, heavy bag of nearly new clothing to donate and when asked where I should leave it, a young man behind counter said somewhat rudely, ?take it out the back?, with no offer to help. I took it where directed and a woman, who looked cross at being disturbed, said abruptly, ?I hope that doesn?t contain electrical items.? She never once showed any manners or gratitude for my donation and I will certainly not be using this charity shop again.

Appalled by the attitude of those working/volunteering at this store. They were extremely rude when I asked if I could donate a large bag of baby clothes and household items and I left the store without even a whisper of gratitude from the staff. I will not be donating to this store again.

Clean and well-staffed, this shop has new as well as used things. It's actually a really fun place to shop in and really enjoyable. Charity shops can be smelly and pokey but this place is clean and well-organised like any shop would be.
