Phone co-op claim to be an ethical business...but I discovered that they bank with Barclays who are the worse fossil fuel funders in Europe so have had to change provider (to Green ISP)Everyone needs to be aware of this as they do not openly advertise their support of the fossil fuel industry!

I chose them as a co-operative. For 1 year all fine, with broadband, mobile and landline. However I am now in week 5 without broadband (so no TV) or landline or any gizmos reliant on wifi. All I get is pointers to BT Openreach being at fault. That may be the case but the Phone Co-op have the contract to provide service and they need to get it fixed. The customer service satff are great, keeping me infomred but the firm seems unable to get the fault resolved. Unacceptable.

It disappoints me that I'm having to write this review. Currently a pay as you go customer, will be switching soon. Their signal coverage is abysmal with constant issues in regards to recieving texts and calls, as well as sending texts instantly. The pricing is a premium above even some of the more expensive companies touting a 1GB data plan for £10 a month. I looked into their WiFi, pretty much the same situation. It's a real shame as well because their ethos is exactly the right market.

Absolutely abysmal. Ever since requesting service at my new address back in December it has been a constant battle, un-replied to emails, un-returned phone calls and a complete lack of customer service. Nearly 3 months later I am still trying to resolve issues with my account. As soon as my contact has expired I will be transferring to a different provider. The Phone Coop are clearly unable to live up to the moral and ethical values they espouse.

I'm reluctant to leave this review as it was my intention to support an ethical organisation. But after another bout of incompetence from these guys, I feel I should warn other people.Firstly, after joing The Phone Co-op, I talked my mum into switching to them, too. We called them several times, but no answer. One new customer lost. Then my partner tried to join them but that didn't work out because they said they had no coverage at her house (which they do because my phone has always worked fine there). So that was another potentnial customer lost. After a couple of months of me joining them, I realised I needed more data. So they added some data to my account, but it was for the wrong network, so I was without internet for some time. Had to ring them back several times before someone realised what they'd done wrong. A real sense of incompetence emerging by this point, but I stuck with them presuming that once this was sorted out, then it should be plain sailing. However, today, I find out that they've charged me more than double my usual direct debit amount. They guy I spoke to talking over me more than once (not argumentatively, just not listening) and told me I should contact my bank to get the money returned to my account. And it was only after I explicitly asked him that he advised I would have to pay it next month instead!... totally missing my point that it was an incorrect charge as I'd never agreed to in the first place.Really poor communication. Really poor service. They just don't seem to know what they're doing. In the midst of this frustration, I no longer see what the point is of this company, anyway. When I joined them, they just had a couple of networks to choose from which suggested they were using their selective buying power to positively influence the network operators' ethical practices. However, it now seems they are doing business with any old network, so I really don't get the point. And after reading their About Us page, I am still none the wiser. Not sure what alternatives there are. With the emergence of 5G (and the associated health and environmental implications), I'm not sure supporting any mobile phone company (directly or indirectly) is ethical. If I end up choosing to go SIMless, at least I can say thank you to The Phone Co-op for the push...
