It was a first visit to the Shepherds Hut for our friends and they loved it. The service and menu choices pleased all. The fresh water and treats for our dogs was greatly appreciated. Our meals were spot on and it made the perfect way to finish our circular walk around this historic and beautiful village.

Small car park but in a lovely area, was asked if wanted drinks promptly, all seemed good. Ordered roasts, the food was lovely but took a bit of time for them to actually take our order. We weren't asked if everything was ok until the end, or asked if we wanted to order any more drinks. We waiting to see if they would offer a dessert menu but they did not, so we didn't order anything more, paid and left. Was really nice food but for £20/roast, the service could have been quite a bit more attentive.

We have visited this establishment many times over the past years. However, this time the food, whilst okay, wasn't outstanding as it has been. Previously, Sunday lunch was served with red cabbage, cheesy leeks etc.. which were fantastic.... None of that was offered this time around. The portions were large, but equally most of my table left lots rather than handing back an empty plate. Would I go again?... probably, but not for a while.

Well worth a visit and will be going back next time to are in the area. Food was really nice and after mains we could even manage a pudding, it was so filling.

Lovely meal & great service, not keen sat in bar side to start with as got quite noisy but emptied out out got quieter, think next time I'd prefer to sit by window or In dining room ??

Service was initially a bit slow but the food came quickly once ordered and was really good - hot, tasty and plentiful. Reasonable choice on the menu at reasonable prices by comparison with a lot of other local restaurants. Desserts looked tempting but we were too full from the mains to try them - maybe next time? Would definitely go back.

Very friendly and engaging service in a lively pub. The Barnsley Chop was new to me but a revelation. I recommend it highly. We'll be back.
