Room was a glass fronted chalet in the car park so was like sitting in a fish bowl. Was not informed beforehand that the kitchen was closed so had to go without dinner. Room not made up when we went out and when queried was told you had to put a sign on the door for room to be cleaned. There was no notice to say you had to do this and have never come across it before in a decent hotel. Left a day early and would certainly not use again.

This hotel is lovely we have stayed here before and had a lovely room, but at our last stay, the room was tiny. No wardrobe, just a small hanging rail. No clothes storage draws. The kettlen in the room was under a table! The lead was not long enough to put it on the table. It was also very near the kitchen and was bothered by a noisey fan. For an overnight stay, this might have been fine, but two people for a week way to small. Every thing else about this hotel was great. Food was excellent as was the service.

Lovely clean rooms, very friendly staff. Quiet area easy to get to. Didn't realise how close to the RAF base it was but watching the plane take off was awesome.

There is no kitchen for dinner at the moment which needs to be made clear as it is located in a remote location. Service is non existent and breakfast used the cheapest ingredients with few healthy choices. Should be better for this price.Room a good size but basic and feels like a business just after the money with no effort made for customers. Wouldn't return and not good value.

Lovely location, great staff at breakfast, reasonable room, felt a little dated, needed net curtains in windows for a little privacy when you don?t want to shut the main curtains.
Only real issue was lack of pressure in the shower!
Good breakfast, will use again.

Under new management!
New management was brought in around the start of April. They are working really hard to bring the standards back up.
Our room was nice, recently decorated. A few down points, no charging points near the bed, no shaving socket in the bathroom, TV tiny, room door catches when trying to close. All the above fed back to the manager who said they would be added to the list of changes they are doing.
They do have an EV charging point here, which will be handy for EV drivers. 60p per kw is a little steep, but you pay for the convenience.
Pub itself was nice. Again the new management are trying hard here, a live singer, cheese and wine etc on one evening, we were gutted we missed it as we're already out. We did get the feel of an old cosy pub when we were in there.
Breakfast was good, small choice but good. Check what time they serve though as it changes at the weekend.
Handy location for Diddly Squat farm, Farmers dog pub, Oxford, Brize Norton and a multitude of pretty small villages
Overall, you can see they are trying very hard to bring the reputation back up.

This was a nice looking hotel in a lovely area. It is just scraping the 4 stars I have decided to rate it though because there were several points that were disappointing but none of them huge deals to me. However, one of the points should really have been a bigger deal to The Vines because, after booking, my details were clearly compromised somewhere along the line. I had booked via a third party site so it may have been their fault. I received SEVERAL emails and then WhatsApp messages from what was clearly a scam trying to get me to confirm my booking and payment via strange links. I called The Vines directly to confirm the booking and explain that I had received these communications but the lady who answered my call had no interest in the GDPR breach and simply confirmed my booking. To be honest, I couldn't be bothered to school her as to how that could have serious implications for the business. I had managed to get the messages to stop before I called. When we arrived at around 19:30 for our stay, we were informed that no food was being served because they were undergoing renovations. It wasn't the fault of the polite, young man who told us but we felt this should have been communicated prior to our arrival. Fortunately, we weren't that hungry and we did have snacks in our bag. Unfortunately, there wasn't a refrigerator in the room to keep them in despite the room description saying there was. There were many other things missing too- sugar for the tea making facilities, hand towels, TV remote for example. Also, when I booked it said I could bring my dog and this appeared to be at no extra cost. After I had paid for the booking I received a message telling me I had to pay more money on arrival to bring my dog. I wasn't asked to pay this when I got there thankfully. We were placed in an upstairs room and would've preferred a downstairs one since we had our dog with us but there was a decent green area to allow him to eliminate and a footpath opposite the hotel where we could give him a brief leg stretch before we set off the next day. The room was clean and spacious enough too, and the breakfast area was very nice, and our cooked breakfast was also good, and we appreciated it being included in the price. The location was great for us and made it easy to explore pretty Cotswolds villages and towns within a short drive as well as Jeremy Clarkson's pub. There's a lovely big garden centre for browsing in nearby in Burford but, if you're bringing your dog like us, it's not dog friendly sadly. I may consider staying at The Vines again in future, because I'm sure we'll revisit the area but it would depend on the prices.

We visited the hotel by chance as we happened to be in the area to attend a service at the local church .
After a long journey we couldn?t have asked for a better reception from the new manager Jo . We asked politely to use the rest room and we was shown to the toilets and afterwards asked if Jo could help any further , we both was looking forward to cup of tea and Jo sorted this for us both along with a a slice of cake .
What a warm friendly welcome we received , we will most definitely be returning to The Vines.

A very invested couple took over a few years ago. I am a very regular customer travelling for work at the military base.
Unfortunately we heard they are moving on and is such a shame!

Absolutely not what it used to be! Three years ago a lovely couple took over and now they seem to no longer be part of management but a very unpleasant grumpy lady.
We returned just for the lovely couple and their lovely soul food and there is none of that.
AVOID!

Manageress and her partner were amazing. Shame they're leaving in 3 weeks, whoever takes over has big shoes to fill! Comfy beds, clean bathrooms, perfect size. Even our dog thoroughly enjoyed his stay. Will be back!
