Wonderful atmosphere on a sunny autumn day. The cakes and pastries look very tempting but today I just needed a coffee fix. There are
several cafés on the square including Costas and Starbucks - though I can't imagine why anyone would go to them when there are good independent coffeeshops available. There is a large toilet and baby change with level access.

Coffee with no evil involved....
If you prefer not to buy a cup of coffee with sugared milk from a branded global business that doesn?t pay taxes and pays for its CEO to jet-commute 1,100 miles to work and back, then Java & Co in Abingdon is the place for you. Charming service with a smile, excellent coffee, good pastries, a clean loo and that feeling of being welcomed into the community all make this a relaxing place to sit and watch the world go by. It helps that the view out of the window is a charming piazza-style street scene, and it helps that you know they probably walk to work: pavement footprint rather than the obscene carbon footprint imposed by a single man in his jet in the USA as he sets about proving by means of carbon fuel-powered flight how ludicrous his mission statement is when it witters about ?every cup? nurture[s] the limitless possibilities of human connection?. Give me the real human touch of an independent coffee shop any time, like Java & Co.
Did I mention they're really nice and make great coffee?

Java is the best. It's easy to support the local businesses if their coffee and their food offer (both savoury and cakes) is actually much better than what the big chains have to offer.

I was recommended this place as having lots of gluten free cake options. It did, but they were all on the same shelves and areas as the normal cakes so I wouldn't bring any coeliac friends here. The service was okay but I wouldn't visit again as a tea and a piece of cake came to over £8. If I'd realised how expensive the cakes were, I'd have gone elsewhere, despite wanting to support independent. I had gf carrot cake and it was cold, dry and I couldn't taste any particular flavour. All in all, a bit of a regret.

Wheelchair accessibility: Useful for a ground floor toilet.

I stopped by in the morning, it was busy but well organised. I ordered a cinnamon roll and a cappuccino. The roll was superb and they serve it hot. The cappuccino really good.
Prices are not really cheap, but that?s in line for a nice coffee shop in the centre of the town

Toilets are the most disgusting I have seen for a very long time.

Rude owners and a rather distasteful place.

There cakes look amazing! You can?t deny it. I haven?t try any. Only stopped by to buy a take away coffee. The attitude of the 2 young ladies with the costumers (myself and the ones next two me) was so rude. 1st their faces was not happy either our visit. We came at 4:40, the places only closed at 5:30pm, according to the opening times here. I ordered my coffee and was left waiting while one of the young ladies was cutting several slices of cakes to the costumers that ordered after me. The same young lady went to vacum the floor and took the Henry almost hitting me with this? The coffee was good at least but the service? please review good costumers service practices

Food is lovely but I visited on a sunny day today and it's so hot and stuffy inside the cafe! Ok for customers as they can sit outside, but felt horrible that the staff have to work in there.

The worst coffee I ever had, very bitter, over-roasted beans...

Terrible taste of over-roasted coffee, it was impossible to drink, money wasted.
