We have frequently eaten here and, until recently, we have received good service and great food at a reasonable price. However, on two recent visits, we received poor service, having to ask for a drink, water etc. They seemed short staffed and their regular staff did not seem to be there. Today we visited and received dried out food although it wasn?t even hot. I returned my food and asked for it to be removed from my bill which I was told would happen. I did not take up the offer of a replacement so did not eat anything. We paid a total of £33.00 for two starters, one of which was returned and not replaced, two glasses of wine and two teas. I realised after paying that they had not deducted the cost of my inedible food. I tried to call by ?phone but no reply. I will not be returning. It is such a shame as the surroundings are lovely. Obviously a change of staff has had an impact but I really could not recommend eating there where as previously I would.
I have today re-visited The Dog House and have now updated my review. We were served very quickly by Niamh who was pleasant and helpful. The service was excellent throughout our meal. Some familiar staff are now back and the whole atmosphere is once again, good.
Obviously, the previous staff were not the usual staff so it is such a shame that this had such a negative impact on the service and food.
I will now be more than happy to return there and would be happy to recommend The Dog House as a place to visit.

First visit ?We had a lovely Sunday roast here. From the moment we walked in, we were given a warm welcome by the friendly staff. The pub itself looks beautiful, very spacious and comfortable. We were quickly seated, asked about drinks, and given the menu which had a great choice.
We didn?t have to wait long for our order to be taken, and when the food arrived it looked fantastic. We both had the trio roast ? it tasted amazing and was cooked perfectly. The only slight disappointment was the cauliflower cheese, which unfortunately tasted burnt, so we left that.
Other than that, everything was spot on. We really enjoyed it and will definitely return ? highly recommend for a great Sunday roast!

Had a lovely family meal to celebrate a special occasion. The pub staff were great and allowed us to turn up early to set up table decorations. Georgia & Simon were so helpful and attentive. Cannot fault anybody at all. They went above and beyond to keep the kids happy and make sure we had a great time. The food was really good as well. Would definitely recommend.

WE had searched for a dog friendly pub in the countryside as my Daughter and her partner had joined us for a night when we were away and stumbled on this.
We all know that Chef and Brewer are a chain but a good one and we know what we are getting when we eat. What set this place apart was the staff - Simon and Kieron made the evening better and memorable, not just by the great service but by being fun and joining in the silliness that always happens at our family get togethers.
While I am not down here often, I have bookmarked this place and it will be a my go to in the area now!
